Theory: "Moeen Ali" is actually a set of twins with vastly different abilities as cricket batsmen.

Shaheen available for the rest of the competition. Well that changes things quite significantly!

My guess is that Stevenson, rather than Currie, will make way tomorrow. That's purely based on the fact that Currie is already getting in ahead of Wheal and Dale, thereby suggesting that he's partly in for his batting - which Stevenson is not. (I know we've only seen him face one ball so far, but apparently he's not the worst lower order batter in the world.)

Not that it really matters. Afridi replacing either of them will improve us significantly.

And besides, whichever one keeps their place will possibly only keep it for tomorrow anyway, because Thomas believes that Vince will be available again come our fifth match next week (our first at the Bowl). Not ideal to have Fuller as part of a five man attack, but more acceptable when the other four are Afridi, Wood, Crane and Holland.

Very sad to hear about the death of David Capel, ex Northants and England due to a brain tumor. RIP David.

Not only us that suffered at the hands of Sussex's batsmen, I thought they might struggle to get 196 but they are already 46/0 off of 3 overs!

I know they were both out a while ago now, but there's a very strong argument for saying that they're the best t20 opening pair in the country.

Or at least until Somerset get Banton back to partner Babar.

Still infuriates me that we (Southern Brave) went for Jordan over Salt as our automatic local selection, and then followed it completely ignoring Wright right through the entire Draft. Not even using our final pick on him.

I was hoping that I would put the mockers on Sussex, what a great finish!

Sussex join Surrey (vs Essex) in throwing away the win by failing to score off either of the last two balls.

QFs as usual (to be played in the days immediately prior to Finals Day).

So top two in each group, plus two of the best three third place sides. Just as it used to be.

    Just had a look:

In 2009 (the last time it was three groups of six, with 10 group games) the two best third place sides (one of whom was us) finished on 13 points (+0.42 NRR & 6 wins) and 12 points (+0.85 NRR & 6 wins). The other third place side had 10 points (-0.04 NRR & 5 wins).

    Whilst in 2008, the two had 12 points (+0.64 NRR & 6 wins) and 10 points (-0.18 NRR & 3 wins). The other also had 10 points (-0.31 NRR & 5 wins).

Gives a rough idea of what sides may need this year, to qualify in third.

I'm fine with that. Means we can still get 8 overs out of Crane and Afridi, whilst not needing as many from lesser guys.
