In a loose kinda way yeah....but I'd just simply prefer a transparent government working for a better future for all rather than this ungovernable force we have had for hundreds of years.

Surely that isn't too much to ask for....... So until things change in the ruling classes fixed establishment I'm anti government.

Given the scale of the problems dear old Blighty is currently faced with - Coronavirus, Brexit, a moribund economy, housing shortage, crumbling schools and hospitals, homelessness, rising crime, lack of job opportunities for youngsters - how much of a problem is a few hundred refugees landing in Kent?

Looks to me like the whole story is being used as a distraction from the atrocious mess the government is making of running the country; everything turning to ****? Not our fault you plebs, blame that boat full of Africans over there...

    I didn’t call you a racist. I think you’re being a bit simple though.

Why are you so worried about a few hundred refugees? Do you really think it’s that much of a problem? Don’t you have other things to worry about?

They’re not going to stop it, not completely. They’re not going to stop it raining in September either. Some things can’t be stopped.

How are we going to stop Coronavirus overwhelming the NHS, and how are we going to minimise the damage lockdown has caused to the economy? How are a generation of children whose education has been put on hold, going to catch up? These, I would suggest, are more pressing concerns than how we are going to stop a relatively small number of desperate people risking their lives to reach our shore.

    Just my view ...

    1. If I am applying for a job and am refused / rejected it would not make me a bogus jobseeker...it would mean that my application was rejected because I did not meet the criteria for the job.
To my mind not meeting the asylum seeker / refugee criteria should not be a criminal act.

    2. I once wrote a bulletin regarding refugees and asylum seekers for my union. It was in support of Asylum seekers rights in line with my union's policy. I read up a lot and researched the issue and found that (at the time) over half of those rejected won their case on appeal (I can not remember the exact percentage).
The refugee council and the Committee To Defend Asylum seekers and various human rights lawyers and groups (duch ss Amnesty) believed that the initial decisions were politically motivated whereas the appeals were based on fact.

I personally find the government’s treatment of refugees disgraceful (all governments ... I wrote the bulletin under Blair's New Labour).

British Governments have sold arms to and trained the armies of dictators for decades and have lent moral support to immoral governments around the world. This is true from the Miltary Junta in Argentina to Apartheid South Africa to Iraq to Iran to Russia.
If countries support these scum regimes then those countries have a moral duty to support those fleeing the dictators.

Pre WW2 Jewish people escaping persecution in Eastern Europe were treated in the same way as refugees are today ... and many were denied entry to the US and Britain etc. and ended up dying in the concentration camps.
Those ruling society appear to either not have learned the lessons or not give a ****.

    Like I say...just my opinion

Only people who land here and claim asylum aren’t illegals, as per international law.

80% of asylum applications in the U.K. are refused.

People have been arriving in this dangerous manner for beards, this is not a new thing. Ironically the numbers have increased of late for 2 reasons, firstly post Brexit the French have stopped giving as much of a **** about stopping them leaving French shores, and secondly the detection of truck stowaways has increased.

We have around 40,000 asylum applications per year, and in an average year only about 10-15% of them arrive by boat.

Farage and his paymasters chose to make this xenophobes dream of a story, headline news, it’s a completely fake ‘crisis’ that the Govt have then lapped up as it’s a wonderful diversion for them, with the added benefit of appealing to a large section of their base.

It is a bit scary though...We are putting people into isolation after a holiday from (insert country) due to this covid ****.

I don't know, but those camps could be rife with anything. How do they isolate them?
