Lol true enough. Though we were pretty decent away from home last year, only City and Liverpool got more away points iirc. That match was a proper old school robbery though. Was fuming for almost the entire 5 hour drive home.
Their form was relegation form for almost the entire second half of last season.. They won't be anywhere as high this season...
Yeah at St James like Chelsea you got bumped big time.. You were one of many sides that left scratching their heads... It was Dubravka at the heart of it..
Chelsea were ****ing useless against us. They had possession but did absolutely nothing, I actually think we put in a very solid defensive performance against them.
Exactly we mugged them. They missed their chances then we got a corner in the 94-95th minute.. I think our first of the game.. I can only think of a handful of games we didn't rape the opposition.. Man united home? Sheff united away vs 10 men, Southampton away vs 10 men, Bournemouth away, and maybe we deserved the point at home to villa.. I understand defending is part of the game or more accurately goal keeping, but really we did mug most our points. Bruce to his credit was trying to to change our methods wisely only after securing premier league status, but worryingly we started leaking goals and losing regularly.. Hopefully it'll get better over time, but personally I'd go back to the only mugging system.
I think a bit part of the end of season meltdown was also down to the team taking their foot off the peddle/being relieved that they survived. Its no coincidence to me that even with the changed system we won games right up to us being mathematically safe.
20 points from your last 18 games doesn’t say to me you’ll finish comfortably top half mate. Somewhere like 14-15th that Fosse lad.
We had a lot of injuries as well as losing our mojo a bit ... squad didn't have enough depth to cope with that as became obvious ... hopefully putting that right now ... can't ignore how good we were when we had the first XI out and fully fit during the first half of the season...
I dunno about the 1st part the top halfs full of quality and you've got Everton brining in some quality now... I think Leicester might have somewhat of a difficult time like I said at xmas stating up the top end... I think 7th - 12th personally
Everton have supposedly been bringing in quality for years ... takes more than signing expensively to build a team ... We have an excellent spine and some great young talent coming through. Vardy has a good couple of seasons in him yet and Maddison is right up there with the best ballers in the division. I expect us to improve collectively .. challenge is how much others will have ... I'm happy enough with how we are progressing as a club.
Not saying Leicester don't have some good players and 7th wouldbt exactly be a bad season.. I just see other teams that were improving adding more quality and I also saw Leicester really struggling for a sizable period. Btw you were certainly correct about my shower of ****e, but I think you may have been too kind... Bottom of the bottom half is more accurate
We lost Vardy for a short period (which we weathered) but also then Ndidi, Pereira (player of the season 2 years in a row) then Maddison, Chilwell and Soyuncu ... If we hadn't lost Pereira to a season ender in the last came before lockdown I'm pretty confident that we would have held on to a CL spot ... which would have been an exceptional season ... even so it was still a very good one and we are in Europe now. Lots of young players that will be even better next season - no reason for us to fear anyone outside the Big 4 ... no reason to think Wolves or Everton will come past us that I can see and we took 4 points off the Goons and 3 from the Spuds and I expect us to be that competitive again ... and for seasons to come
I think the new manager effect played its part. You had momentum and a feel good factor, the wheels seemed to come off when the squad ran out of steam, same as us. Ole runs the first XI into the ground. I think you’ll finish top half fwiw though, just don’t see it being a walk in the park. If Vardy gets off to a good start it could be a good season again.
He seems to be blaming everything on injuries, but that's the difference the bigger clubs can account for them better.. Every club has an injury crisis somewhere along the line.
A fully fit Vardy and Maddison are key ... Pereira fully fit and back to his best would also be huge ... but he's coming back from ACL surgery, so it's a worry ... but we really missed his creativity down the right and eye for the odd screamer too ...
Not everything you tube but we were the only club to lose 3 of it's starting back 4 at the same time (that's a fact) ... combined with our playmaker ... We continue to grow as a club on all fronts, season by season ... we are in Europe for only the 4th time in our history ... you have to enjoy the good times in footie when you are having them ... this is a great time for us ... that seems to irritate you and a few others ... sorry about that
