A new contract for Ings will be the best business of our season. At 28 he realistically has one really big contract left - if we sign him up now he will more than likely see out the rest of his peak career with us.

Even if he did have another 20 goal season, I can't see any club paying the sort of fee we would demand (£60m?) for a 29 year old with 2 serious injuries behind him.

That proves LD Sports wasn’t linked to Gao as some thought....Saints would hardly take action against their owner.

 

I still question who in our organisation would agree a contract that large without some decent due diligence.

 

Presumably we were paid for the first season which would suggest a company with some financial credibility....and it claimed to be a start up which would explain a lack of checkable history. The real puzzle is what LD Sports got out of it.
