Difference being they've one of the best managers of the past 20 years now.

I think they'll do pretty well this year, not brilliant but definitely move in the right direction. If James performs to his potential then I reckon Europe beckons.

I think The only thing Nosferatu ever predicted is that he would never go vegan

I think Palace will go down this season - their form was terrible at the end of last season, and I don`t see it improving much. Difficult to call the other two - maybe WBA and Fulham. Fulham will be better prepared than last time, but would do well to survive.

Key is if he can be ****ed, likewise the players. Not like they are going for young and hungry personnel. King Carlo could just be looking for one last pay day

Pretty much my three to go too. Also really feel this might be Palace's year.

'Tis a fair point. Reckon they might need Leighton Baines back to stand a real chance.

£70m plus and high wages for players who are all over 30 in a year. I wonder how long their contracts are?

Wouldn’t want Saints to do this, one good season if you’re lucky and your worried they’re getting too old

and their value can only be falling

    Short-termism!

He has an abundance of experience at huge clubs and has therefore won a fair few trophies but he has been sacked in almost every job he has had.

The majority of his clubs have been the biggest spenders in their respective leagues and been playing in the champions league - I don't really see how he is the right fit for Everton.

Apart from his spell at Milan, in which he was very successful, he has been sacked by pretty much every club he has been at Parma, Juve, Chelsea, Madrid, Bayern & Napoli.

He is a good manager if you have a huge budget and are one of the best clubs in your league, but is he the right man to take an under performing club and turn them around? I have my doubts.

I agree. And Ancelotti didn`t get much of a tune out of what he had at Everton last season, so he may not be the Messiah they are hoping for.

Yeah, could go either way. Be a lot funnier if it goes the way it usually does for them, and Europe beckons in the sense that a disappearing lifeboat beckons to a drowning man.

Well most managers get sacked at some clubs don't they? Can only think of a very short list who never have been, particularly of his experience. Being sacked doesn't mean that you weren't successful prior to that too.

I take your point about huge clubs with money etc but Everton aren't exactly short of dough.

He took a team in relegation form and put them in top half form for the rest of the season, basically what Ralph did when he arrived. Didn't see anyone accusing him of not getting a tune out of us.

I think it's also worth pointing out that that Everton squad is embarrassingly poor for the money spent on it.

Dunno. I don't have the dislike of Everton that most people here seem to. Would rather see them qualify for Europe than Leicester for example.

I was hoping for him to be coming just to top up his pension... but he’s probably too professional and certainly capable of sorting that sow’s ear out!!!

Let’s hope he gets this one wrong.

We can’t put Chelsea in his list of sackings if we are suggesting it as a failure.... they sacked him after he won the double didn’t they, or was it just the League or Cup?

Most managers will get sacked and like Chelsea, it may have been harsh. But the fact is he has been sacked at 7 out of the 9 clubs he has been at.

I just don't think he will work the miracle's Everton fans think. I wouldn't swap managers with them put it that way.

I didn’t doubt he’d been sacked, I just pointed out that (from memory) it was hardly a failure.

Yeah won the double with a record amount of league goals scored at the time. He also won 'La Decima' for Madrid.

Yeah I take your point, I just don't think that fact says anything and it doesn't mean he failed at those jobs. Poch got sacked from the biggest job he's ever had, doesn't mean he didn't do well beforehand.

Not sure about miracles but as I said I think he'll certainly get them moving in the right direction again. Will take a few windows to clear our the Walcott/Iwobi dross if they are to really challenge though.

Worth pointing out that nobody has won more European trophies than he has. No mean feat.

Re Everton, people better hope Carlo does well (enough). They pay silly wonga and would certainly look at Ralph for their next manager.

Re Palace, I agree, i think they're in for a tough season, although Eze is fantastic signing.

A lot of people are writing off Fulham, but Parker has something about him and looks to be a very talented manager. I'd actually finger Newcastle to struggle a bit this year. The club is in disarray, been inactive over the summer, and they shipped 5 vs Middlesbrough few days a go.

Villa are in no way, shape, or form, a Premier League team. They will be struggling again.

Agree about Fulham. They have a ground development plan put on ice before their last relegation, I don’t think relegation will be part of the plan at all this season and they probably know what they need to do to stay up.
