yeah, I never understood that either, Baines scored and assisted twice as many as 'attacking' Ashley Cole.
Pretty sure most people gauge attackers/midfielders and strikers by their goals/assist stats. Defenders are usually judged by their, you know, defensive capabilities, goals and assists are a bonus. Is Trent Arnold a fantastic right back?
Timothy Castagne reportedly taken medical and signing 5 year deal. Only 24 so fits the recruitment policy. Full Belgian international who can play at right or left back and had a fine season with Series A surprise package Atalanta. Joins Tielemans and Praet in terms of our Belgian contingent and also knows Wilfrid Ndidi from their days at Genk together. Good first signing, more to follow.
The most interesting thing next season would be Liverpool finishing outside the top 4. Who's fault would it be? City/United/Chelsea for "buying the league", Klopp for not realising that teams need to move on every year or FSG for not providing funds. Maybe PGMOL for fixing games Probably won't happen (it could ) but would be funny as **** if it did and would keep this site alive for another season
Spurs apparently bulked at the asking price and switched their attention to Doherty... also Rodgers apparently tried to sign Castagne when he was in charge at Celtic ... so got his man at last. Brings a lot of first team experience despite only being 24. Building a very good young squad. Had 10 players from the U23s in the match day squad against Sheff Wed the other day - Brenda has said that many will now go out on loan; but I wouldn't be at all surprised if a couple are added to the first team squad for the start of the season.
Top 4 look about nailed on (with Liverpool in it)... but it could be a 4 way title race right down to the wire ....
I’d say City were nailed on for top 4. Not sure anyone else is really, could get quite competitive for the other 3 places. Not that I give a ****. The battle for 10th starts here - Up The Saints
Why? City were ****ing dreadful last season, by their own standards, and are clearly in decline. Dont get me wrong, i think they will finish top 4, but I wouldnt say they are nailed on before Liverpool! With Chelsea and United, it all depends on whether their signings work out, but even then, I cannot see who will take their place! Leicester? Sheffield United? Nah!
Aint no club in the PL gonna pay him 600k a week, or even half that. He better off running down his contract or at least stick with Real for one more season.
