Could go either way. You have to question ehy these players sre going to a team that finished 12th last season if they are so good. Attitude of Rodriguez is questionable, Doucoure coming from a relegated team and Allan has played for Ancelotti before but is leaving a more successful team.

Apart from Allan those prices look a bit high.

Personally I think it isn't West Hammy because they signed them. Maybe it is a bit Evertony by over paying for players who have questionable attitudes and work rates.

Everton has not done terribly well buying name-brand at discount prices, and it's totally fair to wonder how financially sustainable this might be, but they should be a very dangerous team. James Rodriguez, Richarlison and the much-improved DCL is quite an attacking trio even if they keep getting little from Gylfi, and Iwobi, and Walcott, and the rest of their sizable band of attackers.

Ancelotti has managed Allan and Rodriguez before. The latter at two different clubs, so I'd be surprised if attitude turns out to be a problem. Whether he is suited to the pace of the Prem is more the issue for me. Let's face it, if Saints were signing either of those two, the lot of us would be absolutely spunking in our pants.

Everton’s signings are exciting but don’t really matter. They won’t get into Europe, they’ll finish slightly above mid table and get doubled by Liverpool. Bookmark that if you like.

I see Brighton are giving a 4 year contract to Ben White, a CB, who spent last season at Leeds.
Leeds wanted him permanently, and allegedly offered as much as £25m.
He’s on Klopp’s radar as well, which brings me to the point of this post.
The 22 year old used to be on Saints’ books, apparently.
Don’t know why or when he left, but looks like a good’un got away.

Well you could say that (the Liverpool bit) about every team bar the Manc clubs to be fair. Everton have got a great shot at Europe mainly because I think the likes of Spurs, Leicester, and Arsenal will all have poor seasons.

Bugger, with Redmond, we could have had 'Red n White' in the same team.

I’m not sure about Everton. So far it looks like all the big teams, plus the clubs going for Europa are having good transfer windows. But then again, that seems like the case every summer before a ball is kicked. There are going to be surprisingly poor teams and surprise packages just like in every season.

Assuming City and Liverpool get top four, two from United, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal are going to miss out again. I think Arteta would be safe in that case, but Mourinho, Ole and Lampard would likely go if they don’t finish top 4, so there is big pressure there.

Then you have Leicester, Wolves and Sheffield United who were all decent last season. I think they’ll be battling us and Everton for either Europa or the remaining top half places.

Palace, Burnley & Newcastle safely mid table. Brighton could be a surprise package going for top half. West Ham - god knows. Then you have Villa and the three promoted sides who I think will be the main ones in trouble.

If i was an Everton fan i would be cautiously excited. However i am not and i am sceptical of how this will turn out. There are a lot of teams to get through for them to reach a position in the table where that outlay is deemed worth it. They have a defence to sort out to break into the top 8 let alone anything more.

I agree and also think the James Rodriguez and Allan signings are risky. If they don’t work out, they’ll either have some fairly pricey 30+ year olds on the books (they’re stock piling those at Goodison) or they’ll have to shift them at a loss. Not that I care though.

Of course they could be amazing signings and get them to the lofty heights of 7th.

If that's correct, Everton is paying substantially less to James Rodriguez than they are to Theo Walcott. That's pretty wild!

Everton making some marquee signings, and quietly expecting big things? Oh.

No way that’s going to lead to yet another disappointing season and more money flushed down the pan.

Lord Quas, bearer of the soothsaying, psychic hump. I still back him to predict better than Mark Lawrenson.
