No doubt his operation and rehab will have cost the club and probably still been paying him, so a bit of effort on his behalf might not go amiss.

agree on this wholeheartedly....these players (I also include welbeck in this), who have benefited from our resources and money (whilst still being paid) to save/extend/rebuild their career following injury, should show a little bit of loyalty, and dare I say humility, and contribute to a cause that they were at least some part involved in creating, rather than agitating for a move!!

I think all the players have shown commitment and patience, I don't think any of the players have agitated for a move, not yet anyway and certainly not in a Wilkinson way / going on strike.

Agreed Mike Williamson (I presume you don't mean Paul Wilkinson?) was a special case!!! I do stand by my point though players like Doucs and Gerry are very actively and publicly (and therefore imho are agitating) lobbying for a move away from the club. Also, the fact that it appears that Doucs is not back at training is in a way, going on strike

.. Worth reflecting that some want to move because of how they have been treated...
I have had a warm dialogue with Holebas for example who was frozen out.. But was very loyal to the fans...
So may be more about the set up and less about player loyalty to the fans...

Daily Mail and Sky Sports are reporting that Glenn Murray is having a medical at Watford ahead of a season long loan from Brighton. I assume that he must be intended as a replacement for Troy Deeney, who may be leaving. Murray will be 37 years old later this month (whereas Deeney is 32) and he scored 1 goal in 23 appearances in the Premier League during last season. I know that - in the past - Murray has had a good goal scoring record in the Championship, but this signing does not make much sense to me (apart from the fact that his wages may be less than those of Deeney).

This deal has now also been confirmed by Adam Leventhal. Glenn Murray has only one year left on his contract at Brighton. Perhaps he is intended as a squad player who can bring some experience to help the younger players and can be an impact substitute, but will he be happy with that role? The squad will need depth with so many games in the Championship.

A cheaper version of Deeney really to come on if we have to go long and need some physical presence up front.

I think the plan is for Gray and or Suarez to be the man up front.

I'm whelmed... Just... I think that he has something to offer but not a signing I was expecting.

Jesus, he was great when he played for us but this might not be the signing we need. He has gone AWOL, incidents and off the boil form wise since.

Thh we have Pedro as a potential left sided player ..

How much of a difference Everton potentially signing 2 other midfielders in Allan and James Rodriguez make to any potential deal?

And would Doucoure be first choice?

Agreed, when Fessi had the crowd behind him you could see his confidence and endeavour grow, when the crowd got on his back you could almost see him shrink into his shell - I think he would be good back-up for J-P and probably push him on a bit in terms of development.
Like you say though, so much secrecy at the club right now, just don't know what is happening

Everton have agreed a deal with Watford for midfield man Abdoulaye Doucoure. Eventual fee could be around £25m.
