Could be worse: imagine what would've happened if we played there with Andros Townsend in the team...
Oh, I don't know. I'm sure the people in those housing estates in the background would appreciate the free match balls.
So with Plovdiv confirmed, if we get through them, our potential opponents in the next round will be one of: Botusani (Romania) or Shkendija (Macedonia). Maccabi Haifa (Israel) or Zeljeznicar (Bos & Herz). Kairat Almaty (Kazakhstan) or Vojvodina (Serbia). Air miles, baby! (Because you know if we do win we’re not getting a home tie!).
Perhaps Nemesis will give Spurs group stage opponents who are in north / west / Med region Europe. < we shall see >
Two of the most inconvenient ties possible. Bound to affect the games around them at the very least. I hate Europa
The other possibilities were actually far worse, IIRC. It's away again, which is ****ing annoying, but the alternatives included Israel and Kazakhstan. Eastern Europe is far from ideal, but at least it's still Europe.
Yeah I guess it could have been worse but the fact both are away games is so annoying. I know winning Europa means getting back into the Champions league but it’s such a hard slog and it will impact on domestic fixtures big time
Surely for the 3rd round league cup game they will send the under 23 squad. I can’t see any other way around it
We should be able to field a 2nd XI and use youth players as subs for both matches, but I don't think that we have the depth.
