The Athletic claims Forestieri has been training with the Hornets in recent days and the Championship newcomers are considering re-signing him this summer. The 30-year-old notched 40 goals and contributed 18 assists in 134 appearances for Wednesday. He finished top-scorer in consecutive seasons, playing a key role in their back-to-back play-off finishes under former boss Carlos Carvalhal. A series of injury problems and off the field issues blighted Forestieri's Owls career following their semi-final defeat to Huddersfield Town in 2017
Both Fessi and Vydra bloomed with us because of Deeney - and rumours abound that he is off. Without his presence, I suspect neither would be as good as they were 'back in the day'.
We should have given both of them a chance in the EPL rather than sell them. Think Forestieri would have been fantastic. Not a fan of going backwards.
Was a bit surprised we let Vydra go really at the time. Guess the offer was good. FF was excellent on his day and actually worked pretty hard too.
The Daily Mail is reporting that Javi Gracia has turned his attention to Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi because Valencia have failed in their bid to sign Capoue on loan. The report (if true) confirms suspicions that Valencia's financial problems have prevented them from signing Capoue. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...rise-Arsenal-midfielder-Matteo-Guendouzi.html
As always. it is so difficult to sort out any semblance of truth in all these rumours. It keeps people in employment after all. Valencia has sold a striker to Leeds for 26 million (reputedly) so maybe have a bit of money for a loan signing, a deal which would not suit Watford's interests.
I read somewhere that Watford were asking for a fee of £4 million for Capoue from Valencia, which they were unwilling to pay. Apparently Valencia need to use any income received from outgoing transfers to help to pay off their debt of €274 million. https://acefootball.com/football-news/football-clubs-debt-2020/
And yet they are interested in Gouendouzi who Arsenal value at ten times that amount. Funny old world really...
"Now Super Deporte claim new Valencia boss Javi Gracia is targeting a move for the France U21 international having failed to raid former club Watford for Guendouzi's compatriot Etienne Capoue. The report adds the Spanish side are likely to push for a season-long loan deal for Guendouzi amid their worsening financial situation, but there is the potential of a £22million (€25m) purchase clause being included in negotiations." (extract from the Daily Mail article) I shall be surprised if Arsenal agree to a loan and I wonder whether Valencia would be in a position to pay £22 million at the end of the loan. It sounds as if Gracia and Valencia are a little desperate and are clutching at straws.
I guess it all depends on which paper you believe: Daily Star - Manager Mikel Arteta is looking to sell Guendouzi for around £40m, just £5m less than Thomas Partey will cost them to sign from Atletico Madrid. Express - Arsenal value Matteo Guendouzi at £40million at a time where Valencia are showing transfer interest, Times - Guendouzi has an asking price of £40m and is being linked with Valencia
I suspect that it is Valencia who are offering the potential of a £22million (€25m) purchase clause to be included in the negotiations and that it is not Arsenal who have agreed to that amount. All the newspaper reports could still be correct if that is the case, but it sounds as if signing Matteo Guendouzi is a pipe dream for Valencia.
I should hasten to add that I don't normally read them - my interest was piqued purely by the Capoue/Valencia thing...
I can't find any mention of this anywhere else - the club really do seem to be slipping when it comes to communicating with fans...
Quick update on Gerard Deulofeu's situation - no concrete offer in place as of yet, with teams put off making a move due to his injury, player not expected to be back playing until around November. WO
