16 Passengers on a flight from Zante have tested positive....after several tested positive on a similar flight recently. I would suggest that if you must get on a plane !!! go to a resort that doesn’t attract large groups of youngsters (known risk takers). Or better still...don’t get on a plane...unless you want to quarantine for a fortnight.

I have to say that it is these kinds of people who will ultimately put everyone at risk. I decided not to take a holiday in 2020 and stayed at home for a week at the beginning of August. I tried to avoid areas with crowds and my trips out were generally limited to places that were isolated where I could go birdwatching or destinations which seemed small risk like New Alresford. This seemed to me to be sensible behavior.

My niece and nephew were down that week and they wanted to go to Marwell. We has a slot for visiting but when we arrived it transpired that everyone seemed to have been booked to turn up at the same time. Loads of people did not have masks on and social distancing was largely not observed. There was even a woman emptying her kid's potty in the footpath. I was shocked by the behavior of most of the people we encountered as there seemed no real effort to comply with the Covid regulations and the zoo staff were over-whelmed by people doing as they liked. A sudden downpour early afternoon meant that we left early and it made me think again about visiting somewhere that will attract the crowds. I like Marwell yet this was the quickest I have ever walked around the zoo!

My experience has been that some places are not managing Covid at all. I think the beach / nightclub venues abroad are generally going to attract people who are not responsible. It seems stupid to fly off to somewhere that is likely to be crowded. It feels like the people who are going to cause the problems all have the same kind of profile. I am fully for people being fined for organizing raves and think it was a shame that similar measures were not put in place after Liverpool fans celebrated winning the league. Not surprised to read that Liverpool is now the next favourite city to be put in lockdown. It does not take much intelligence to work out what is a good venue and what is irresponsible. I think that a few cases of Covid being passed around amongst those acting without much intelligence would soon change people's opinion if reported in the media. Maybe they should be made an example of so that people can let them know how much they feel they have let everyone else down. Everyone has had to made sacrifices and it is disappointing than some feel this need not be the case.

Any re-occurrence in the winter will be attributable to people being too stupid to abide by the rules. The idiots will put everyone at risk.

Not just an English or UK thing it's a worldwide bunch of selfish, ignorant, deluded and gullible fools in whatever situation, location or event that will cause surges, spikes second waves whatever it's called. Swingeing fines, licence revoking, confiscation of property (you can't make a sound without a system) to make a visible example problem being the underfunded and understaffed police. We just keep clear of what we know will be busy places.

We should definitely just let this pass through the population.

Yep. I’ve had a bit of sh1t as I’ve had two mates with big birthdays and I wouldn’t go to either bbq/party. Too many people in confined spaces when there is simply no need to take the risk.

possibly not much risk of catching it, but for me it’s best to miss out in a few things for a while.

Research suggests that some positive Covid results are due to the presence of dead viruses....explaining why positive results are going up whilst hospital admissions are down.
There is also another suggestion that, unlike other diseases such as measles, herd immunity to Covid may not require 80-95% of people to be immune....may be as low as 20% because many people are resistant because of previous exposure to other Coronaviruses (this is disputed by others).

We are mirroring Europe again, and like Spain, the cause seems to be the age group that socialises most regularly, the 20-40 bracket, from what I have read.

Hardly a surprise when people are beginning to live their lives again and testing has increased hugely. Part of me is surprised that it's not higher tbh.

Mrs B has been suffering from toothache, for 6-8 weeks, and this morning was her emergency appointment.
The dentist practice is controlling attendees by making them wait outside, or in their car, until the chair is ready for them.
Cue an idiot turning up, with his mask below his nose, complaining about how “ridiculous” the set up was.
I told him “I don’t think trying to keep people safe and protecting life is ridiculous. It would also help if you wore your mask properly and covered your nose with it”.
He read the notices on the door and then buggered off - no appointment.
Some people are still not taking this virus seriously enough.

Cases were always going to rise again with the easing of restrictions. The key is to keep the number who require hospital treatment down. Problem is the age group where numbers are rising (20-29) are less likely to take it seriously as they are only likely to suffer mild flu symptoms at most.

Went to the guy over the road to help him with his internet today - he is 90 on Saturday.

He asked if i could help him as he was changing providers and didn't have a clue, I was a bit apprehensive due to his age. I wore a mask and gloves and got him to sanitise everything I touched - not for me, but for him. The guy is an OBE fought in various wars (ex RAF), lasted 90 years on this planet and there is no way I want to be the one to stop him getting his telegram from Liz.

What these idiots don't realise is that the mask isn't for them, it is for others.

As a result of Mrs B’s appointment, she was given a prescription for antibiotics, so we stopped in an independent pharmacy on the way home.
I couldn’t believe that none of the 3 employees, including 2 pharmacists, were wearing a mask, despite interacting with customers.
Also, whilst waiting for the pills, 4 other people entered, without masks, which I thought was against the guidelines these days. :emoticon-0121-angry
I found a corner and stayed out of the way.

Though a recent study on 100 young/healthy people who had contracted the virus in Germany and recovered - 78 of them now have heart abnormalities.

Now I doubt they were asymptomatic, but still. That narrative of "young people will be fine" needs to change, not least for the sake of the elders.
