I can't agree mate. If he hadn't played Darlow would have. Whereas Darlow isn't as good as Dubravka, I don't think the drop off would have seen relegation. We were massively clear of relegation, like 10 points or something.
Agree and disagree with both. Dubs was good and he played a big part in where we finished last season but he wasn’t the main reason. Maxi was the reason we stayed up and did relatively well for the ability of the team and squad. If you want to look at stats have a look at the stats where Maxi played and then compare them with the stats for when he didn’t play. Don’t look at the stats which say how much/little possession we had. Don’t look at the stats which deal with passes or shots or anything like that. Look at the only stat that really counts ie did we win, draw or lose. Namely how many points did we get. There is a big difference in points/results with Maxi and without Maxi. One player can make a big difference to a team in a squad like ours.
A lesser keeper we'd have lost almost every game last season. We mugged nearly every point bar Bournemouth away, Southampton away west ham away and you could say we deserved to beat man united and get a point home to citeh.. All the others were smash and grad... The worst stats I've ever seen... Everyone was the worst in the division bar GK and overall points... Its clear to me what the link is between both of those
There is no anomaly because football isn't played on stats, its played on grass by humans who make a mockery of stats on a weekly basis. Its all a load of horseshit in my eyes mate. Its a team and squad game. One player is never the difference between relegation and staying up. Certainly players play a big part as ASM, Dubs, , Fernandez, Shelvey did. It remains the sum of all parts that made us the 13th best team and 10 points clear of relegation. Each to their own but I see these kind of remarks as silly and not at all based in fact. To be fair we get these comments after every single season where we have this owner. Particularly after a failed takeover. There is tendency to be despondent and jump off the cliff in terms of predictions for the following season. So fans start to look at crazy reasons why we've been lucky or it won't be the same again. They are more often than not incorrect. We were the 13th best team in the league. Dubravka played his part. We wouldn't be as good without him, but we would have certainly still stayed up unless we were putting a sunday league keeper in, at least in my eyes.
Like I say with a worse keeper the points we scraped together wouldn't have materialised... At least I'm not sighting luck or that stats don't matter.. My argument is based on logic
Stats largely don't matter. For instance just to pick one point, Dubravka made a lot of saves. Why is that? Points are what counts. Squads get those not individuals. Its a largely moot point because its a subjective matter with zero way of proving anything. Bottom line is Dubravka had a good season and we stayed up comfortably. If we stay up this season it'll be because the WHOLE squad have done enough to keep us up as they did last year. It really is that simple for me.
Look in not sure what's so difficult to understand Nufc last season had the worst attack Nufc last season had the worst possession Nufc allowed more shots on goal than any other club The goalkeeper got 11 clean sheets and made 30 more saves than any other keeper. The only thing nufc was good at was goal keeping. That's why we managed to stay up
Simply not true Its your opinion of course and you're entitled to it. In my opinion its stupid reasoning but that's the beauty, its just opinions.
As I say its just an opinion. One I disagree with. We stayed up because we were the 13th best squad in the division. End of a very short story.
Funny people are happy to credit strikers... The amount of years people say his goals kept the up, but lasr season it was the goalkeeper... Most rafa troops say it was just luck, but I'm crediting the keeper not luck
