Edit: Not sure why the club took the other one down and replaced it with a longer one, but there it is.

Been 4 seasons, but welcome back to the fixture scheduling
hell that the EL allows the PL to inflict.

And in the event that are Spurs in the PL title fight, I refer you to 2016.

Be interesting to see Gedson in the Alli role, probably more his natural position than RB (though he’ll probably be able to do a job there for us in a pinch, which is useful) and hopefully he can show us what he can do there.

Glad to see Kane back in the squad, I imagine he’ll get second half minutes. Slightly worried we haven’t seen Tanganga and Dave yet, and we know GLC is healthy but I’d have liked to have seen him get minutes too. Maybe they’re just being extra careful after he played through injury at the back end of last season.

There was a rumour that Ndombele isn’t the only Spurs player with COVID so the likes of Sanchez/ Gio/ Tanganga could be quarantined. Although Tanganga was in training photos in the early weeks unlike the other two.

Foyth and Winks aren’t in the squad again either having both played in the first friendly. Foyth I think is being preserved as he may be moving on, whether be loan or perm. Not sure why Winks isn’t featuring, unless there’s serious truth in the City rumours? But then I really can’t see us selling due the CG situation.

GLC isn’t quarantined, he did the skywalk last week. I imagine we’re just being super careful with recovery so he’s 100% next season. Let’s face it we have so many games at the start that he’ll have plenty of time to get up to speed.

Agreed on Foyth, have to feel a move is in the offing. I’m very surprised we haven’t seen Winks since the first game, could just be a minor issue or something. I don’t think he’s going to be sold.

Birmingham have done their homework and they're clearly happy to play on the counter.
No intention of getting done in behind easily, like our opposition were in our other friendlies.

Dier misses a free header. Just glanced it when it needed proper contact. Decent delivery from White.

Some great pings out from the back from Dier so far. Great to see, if him and Toby can be finding Doherty like that during the season it’ll be a great weapon.

Moura headbutts a defender’s boot but seems ok. Gedson looks bright in a more central role, pressing a lot. Lovely free kick just now from White that Dier nearly got on the end of as well.

Just as I wrote that, Gedson has now had 3 awful passes or touches that have gone out on the left hand side <whistle>

Not massively relevant, but there's not a lot happening: Why is this not deemed a kit clash?
Birmingham in blue and white. Spurs in white and blue. Totally different...

We’re struggling a bit to break down a team sitting deep without us having a focal point, which will come as a shock to nobody. Given this isn’t exactly a group of players who are very familiar with each other, and there’s only one or two starters playing, I’m not too concerned.

Dier has looked good, with his distribution standing out. White and Cirkin are also doing themselves no harm out there, without pulling up any trees.

On the other side, Clarke and Aurier don’t seem to have worked each other out, and the other forwards aren’t doing a huge amount apart from pressing. The mobile, striker-less front 3 works when we can counter but not in these situations. That’s not news.

    0-0 HT. That was awful.
We didn't create a single meaningful chance against a Championship side.
Birmingham just sat in, worked hard, stayed compact and looked very comfortable.

I don't even know what our formation was supposed to be.
No striker, no creativity and no threat.
We should be able to field a 2nd XI and look a lot more dangerous than this.

A lot of these players will have been wanting to show Jose they’re worthy of some chances in the first team when it comes to competitive football.

    They’ve failed to show anything.

Very, very poor half of football and I’m quite happy I’m a ST holder that didn’t have to pay the £10 to watch this.

I don’t think this is exactly a surprising state of affairs at half time. We all know we struggle to break down teams who sit deep, and that’s only going to get worse without a striker or creative midfielder, and a lineup in general that hasn’t really played together. If Winks and Sissoko can’t do it then White and Sissoko certainly won’t.

The forwards have been disappointing and like I said earlier, I think we can get away with pressing and counterattacking without a striker but not when teams sit deep.

Someone to move the ball more quickly through midfield and/or a target man will change the state of affairs I’m sure.

Ledley King telling using a folder full of formation and tactical information to explain to Fernandes where he's going to play in this half.
Might've been an idea at the start, as he clearly didn't know what to do as the central part of a front three (I think).

Lloris, Davies, Bergwijn and Alli on at the break.
Cirkin should've stayed on, for me. Sessegnon shifted to left-back and Davies at centre-half seems unnecessary.
