Alright guys, Bluebird in peace, belated hard lines from Wednesday night. Genuinely thought you played really well. And all credit to your players and manager for the way you are being set up to play. You clearly have a talented manager and there was no surprise from me why you are where you are in the league currently. You play some entertaining football and it was tough to get the ball from you at times, although I think we frustrated you really well in the middle of the park and pushed up on your fullbacks. Bloody hell you've got a hell of a player in Lambert and he won everything against Hudson and i was quite impressed wit Lallana too. You have an impressive side and I think you'l be (i'm cringing as I add a Claridge-ism) there or thereabouts at the end of the season. One thing that always impresses me is a large following on a Tuesday night and my god you were loud, I enjoy that as it lifts our voices and it makes for a great atmosphere which has at times been sadly lacking at the CCS. You guys were a credit to your club and were still singing when 2-0 down. Lot of respect and the best bunch we've had down at CCS for a while. Always had a soft spot for Southampton because of the Brazilian trapped in a Channel Islanders body in Matt Le Tiss. So all the very best of luck for the rest of the season and apart from the return fixture obviously. p.s. tell your keeper to get the ball out quicker! the only thing that irks me that!
Yes you are right about KD's distribution, I think he has been watching too many Brighton match videos! Can't say highlights, coz they are far and few between! Have a good day in Hull too.
Nice one dude. Cardiff deserved to win, end of story really. Sometimes our passing game won't work but it's important not to bin it and start punting. Lambert had two good chances that any other day he would have scored, and if we had scored with a couple of chances we had on about 80 minutes then I think you boys would have started up the team bus. But we never really put a great passing move together all night, so Cardiff did their job and that's just life. On goalkeeping distribution, I am seriously close to having a rant about that, not at what Kelvin is doing but at the supporters that have to whistle at him every time. Some of the more observant supporters will have noticed that we pass the ball on the floor quite a lot now, so if Jos and Jose can draw their strikers away and play the ball into midfield then it gives Morg and Jack absolutely acres to do what they like with. Instead the stands pile the pressure on him to play it long, we lose possession. It's as if they think Nigel hasn't considered that it might invite pressure and therefore weighed up the pros and cons of doing this, but us enlightened folks with a few pints on board and a bit of experience on FIFA can see what tactics we should be using...ok finished.
Nice thread Benniefactor........ thanks for taking the time to post. Regards our goalkeepers distribution....have to say this is not his best accumen. It seems he has gone back to his old ways, probably on instruction, it used to drive us nuts let alone the opposition. For a while it seemed to improve, wasn't at the match but judging by a few comments, he has gone back to slow distribution. Oh brother if he has, then he really will get some stick on home soil. So eventually will NA if he doesn't sort it...that's for sure.
You do not need to hoof the ball up field........allowing the midfield to get back into defensive positions......is definately not the way either. If you look at and watch the best teams, it is not the goalkeepers that control the speed of play, it is the outfield players. Slow distribution from goalkeepers hinders more than it helps. That is why most teams do not use it.........
That is true. And I'm not saying we should do it 100% of the time. But having that option forces the oppo to pressure us, opening up space... I think people must still be jittery about Kelvin's distribution, even though it has been fine for about 4 years now.
I agree and it rather depends on the class of the defenders marking Lambo, if they are not too great in the air, a few punts on to Rickies head can reap dividends, if he is up against a monster shirt tugger and getting no help from the Referee there is little point in lumping it up to him.
