Pretty sure we just scored a second but no goal line tech today so we won’t know.

Lucas robbed their player and squared it to Sonny, maybe just cleared off the line on second viewing.

Reading look handy going forwards, good test for our back line and midfield 2 to contain them today.

Nearly 2-0, then nearly 1-1. Son should score but it's cleared off the line, then Joao shoots just wide at the other end.

We're not really creating anything through buildup play. It's either balls out from the back or pressing high up the pitch.

2-0. Alli illustrates my point by winning a header out from the back, getting it back from Moura and chipping the keeper.

Dele makes it 2. Intercepts in the final 3rd with a header to Moura, gets the ball back then lifts it over the keeper. Lovely finish.

Lack of midfield creativity might be down to GLC not playing. Things are going down the flanks a bit more though which is nice to see, Dele drops off and wide a bit to give the option in buildup.

Harvey White is an interesting player. I like that he demands the ball even in traffic. Looks like he’s got a nice left foot. Needs to release the ball a bit quicker sometimes or he runs a risk of falling into the Winks trap. Promising though.

Just noticed the neck on the back of the shirt. That looks awful.

Getting a bit sloppy. Poor last few minutes. Bit of complacency.

Reading playing some nice stuff at times, but their final ball is letting them down.
Not sure the back three suits them that much, either. They struggle badly whenever we press them high up.
And as I say that we do exactly that and Son makes it 3-0. Bergwijn picks him out nicely and he finishes well.

Sonny looks in fine form going into the new season, very clinical finish for our 3rd.

A few misplaced passes this half that have caused us some bother, can put it down to rustiness for now but you’d expect that to be eliminated in the next couple of games.

Mourinho scribbling furiously. Lots to learn from this half.

Seen a bit less of Gedson this game but we’ve played more of a traditional 4231 shape than the lopsided 433 we saw last time, so perhaps not surprising. Like PNP says, plenty of food for thought from this one.

Same scoreline as last time but a much tougher game so far. Reading have caused a few problems for our backline.

Front four have all been good, especially Dele and Sonny.

3-0 HT. Plenty for the manager to pick out of that one, I think.
Looked really dangerous whenever we pressed them high up and from a few balls out from the back.
Didn't command the midfield though and Fernandes looked a bit lost at times, which is to be expected.

Alli did very well nicking the ball and then playing it quickly. Needs to play in that almost free role behind the striker.
Linked up very well with Son, at times.

Hart, Aurier, Carter-Vickers, Sessegnon, Sissoko and Lemela on for the second half.
Lloris, Fernandes, Dier, Davies, White and Moura replaced.
Reading make one change. Morrison off, Holmes on.

Lovely free kick from Lamela. Looks like they’ve practiced that routine with the two Spurs players blocking the wall, where the ball ended up going.

    4-0

4-0. Lamela free-kick from the edge of the D. That's the keeper's fault. "No jump, little jump, eh?"
