That was the cue for Assem Allam to announce he had put the club up for sale in 2014. “Out means I'm out. Have I ever said something and gone back on it? I am a man of principles. Money doesn't come into it.” HDM and Burnsie should be having a field day over this (and many other similar quotes / lies / BS made over the years). -> Were they asking for 40m + transfer payments before though? Maybe, who knows. But sort of irrelevant, as this latest BS shows they are still effectively looking to get their money back (the 'alleged' debt owed to them).
In his last interview with Burnsy, he was still saying the selling price was basically the current debt, which he confirmed was £42m.
Fair enough then, pretty amazed they weren't expecting transfer fees previously, but makes the notion of writing off debt pretty pointless if they're now adding back in transfer fees.
when do these outstanding transfer fees conclude ? Cos I cant see them going anywhere til this lot have pocketed it .. and no buyer with a head on their shoulders will agree to those terms.
Remember when they could've had £150m and got greedy and ****ed it up? I do. Karma's ****ing nice sometimes.
What's the most a third division club has ever sold for? I don't know, but I'm guessing it wasn't anywhere near the price Allams are asking. We remain, NOT FOR SALE. We'll have to be patient as ever.
But if someone bought the club today for £30m, they'd be getting 'cash back' of £15m when the transfer money rolls in, so they've only really paid £15m ? I think anything around the £15m mark would be worth a punt. Gates can only, and would only increase, and you only have to find a couple of young players to have a good season or two and you'd get your cash back.
I can't see any people been interested in a League 1 club which doesn't own its own ground for £30 million in the current climate or at any other time.
I thought Sunderland went for 40 million ? Not all upfront mind ? (2018, just after relegation to L1)
Donald claims that the price paid was £37.6m, but it seems he didn't really come up with any cash at all, he just agreed to pass on the parachute payments to Short.
