It's pretty clear he wanted to come back and the club went way and above to get him back, Brighton dug their heels in and wouldn't sell him to us. Their supporters should be a little miffed at the reason why , they didn't want to sell to a club they thought they'd be in a battle with for relegation, shows real ambition and confidence that.
It certainly does happen, but not often, and the agent would have had to go way beyond the call of duty!
Yeah, nowadays a player can hand in a transfer request, and it will be over all the back pages in minutes.

Will someone remind them there is a pandemic on. Imagine going for a meal and then having that lot leaning over you making their demands. Good on her for refusing. I'd have stuck a fork in the nearest one.
Morning all. In fairness Ben White put himself in this position as he signed a year extension to his contract before joining us on loan so he obviously intended to stay with them.
I'm not really feeling the Ben White hate on here. Yes he could have handed in a transfer request and tried to push a move to Leeds but it still doesn't mean he would have got that move. He's contracted at Brighton and he's a young lad that seems like a nice guy. Why tarnish your own name by throwing your toys out of your pram. He could've handed in the request, lost out of his transfer signing fee, Brighton would have put a price on his head and if that price wasn't met he would be sat with the reserves losing his good reputation which is only 1 great year in the Championship. He wants to be playing and if Brighton would have allowed it he would be at Leeds I'm sure. I think transfer requests work for big name players earning a good wage, it doesn't work for someone who has a 1 good season in a 2nd division earning 5k per week.
One big reason young players will not try to instigate a move, especially when they have agreed a new long term contract. Is they dont want to get a reputation as being trouble. There are quite a few players who will never be bought because they have a reputation and that reputation gets exaggerated to the point where dressing room unrest is mentioned. Ben White is a nice young man who is owned by BHA and to try and force his way out would be a gamble. get the feeling BHA will be moving White out on loan or selling him in the next couple of weeks
TBF to him as well, he signed without knowing that he was going to a club with a manager who would improve his game. Brighton on the other hand are just being petty. Brighton are saying that they don't want to sell to Leeds Utd because we are Premiership rivals. But his agent says there are other's interested. Well if he is sold to another Premier side it will show what Brighton are. A shower of lying bastards.
Or he will be sold/loaned to a championship club that will really show them for what they are, won’t please White though
Well if he is loaned out, it would wipe another year off his contract at Brighton, but by then we may have moved on and doing well with his replacement. It'll make the game against Brighton a bit more spicy though.
No way will they loan him out, would put his contract in the last 12 months, and lower his value big time.
Actually that’s not exactly what they are saying. They don’t want to sell to us because they see us “direct rivals fighting against relegation” so don’t want to strengthen us.
