I have met Phil Thompson. He is a top bloke. Doesn’t take himself too seriously and will have a laugh at his own expense. Most f the stories he tells are detrimental to him. **** pundit mind...
Sky just moving with the times, same as when Botham and Gower were dropped from cricket coverage, same as Des & Hansen getting dropped from MOTD. They were a decent laugh, but anyone under the age of 45ish has prob never seen Thompson or Nicholas play, that's prob over half the viewers.
More about relevance and relatability than ageism. When half (or whatever fraction it is) of your viewers have never seen CN or PT play, how relevant is their view going to be and how will viewers relate to them compared to someone who has played more recently that viewers remember having seen play and have a connection with.
Danny Murphy's powers of punditry. Quote on MOTD. "'Hull City will be fine"' (end quote) Outcome: Relegated. Even my parrot, Claude, knew where we were heading. Enough said really...
Yes, he's very eloquent, there are a few ex tigers that sound good in the media, Michael Dawson and Curtis Davies, Brian Hughes, Ryan Mason, any more?
I saw him at St James park against Newcastle, Le Tissier gave a master class and Soton won much to my delight.
What a silly reply Does he want to give up his first team coach job at derby and do the sky gig full time? As he already does some work for sky as it is when his proper job allows. still carry on trying to make smug replies
Working with Derby as a coach. Sky signed him as their lead EFL pundit before that (and brought him back for the Play Offs).
"Safe as houses" was another of his quotes. Beirut houses, or as the old joke goes, Beirut used to be full of houses, now they're all flats! The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
¢z_ You're a good poster on here 2rights, but would you mind just stopping that thing at the end? It just boils my piss mate. I don't know why, but it does. I reckon if you give that up, we'll be promoted to the championship this season. Go on mate, please stop it. Please
We all have things like that, in my case its oafs that say 'somethink' instead of 'something' or those that think 'lose' should have a extra 'o' in it. After full consideration of you polite request, I'm afraid it's a 'no' from me.
90 % of viewers won't have seen micah richards play either as he was always ****ing injured, and i bet not many viewers watch womens footy either.
With over 200 Premier League appearances and 13 England appearances, I suspect most will have seen Richards play. And though many won't have seen Alex Scott play, she has 140 England caps, is a decent pundit and is hot, so it doesn't really matter.
