It's Thursday 27th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Rodrigo ready to sign on the dotted line Having passed his medical in Valencia yesterday afternoon, Rodrigo flew to London yesterday evening where he is pitched up at at a hotel. Later on today, he will sign a three year contract, worth £100,00 a week! Leeds will part with 27m, rising to 36m with easily achievable add-ons! please log in to view this image Brighton confirm why they won't sell White to Leeds Brighton have told Leeds that the reason why they do not want to sell Ben White to them, is that they see them as direct competition in the Premier League. The Seagulls finished the season in 15th place, eight points and three places above the drop zone. From their stance, it seems that they expect to be in another dog fight this coming term; whats more, they expect Leeds to be in the thick of it too. Bens agent, Alex Levack told Sky Sports: "The latest is there are a lot of conversations happening. Unfortunately for Leeds fans, Ben's just not going to be coming to Leeds. Brighton have categorically said there's no way they're going to sell to Leeds, so unfortunately that's the case," "There's conversations going on, Ben's away up in Scotland with the Brighton team for pre-season, getting himself fit, getting around the team. The Whites opening bid of 10m was quickly dismissed by Steven Gerrard, and even though the former England Captain made it clear that he didn't want to lose one of his prized assets, he maintained that every player has their price. The Whites are expected to offer 15m, eight million more than the Ibrox club paid for him one season ago. Bielsa has been a big fan of the 23yo for a while, and wanted him last year. Unfortunately Kent joined Rangers instead! please log in to view this image
Morning all... Rodrigo - I read the stories of him being in London were false? Apparently the medical was done in Spain, Orta is there now finalising personal terms. Rodrigo will be remaining in Spain as he is selected for Spain’s two international games then when he arrives in England it will be two weeks quarantine. Not ideal but it is what it is. He hasn’t played since June after doing his knee in, I just hope he doesn’t get injured playing for Spain. I don’t understand why we’re going for Kent when it’s an area that we seem to have plenty of cover but if Bielsa wants him then £15m seems to be the going rate for these players unless your name is Ben White. The modern game now but.... You start off with a decent shirt then spoil it by covering it in advertising logos.
Brighton see us as relegation rivals? Cheeky bastards. Typical small club mentality. Hope they're relegated along with West Ham and Villa.
I prefer the shirt without the sleeve sponsor, mainly because the JD logo is bigger than the Premier League logo and it just doesn't look right to me. I keep reading conflicting information about the quarantine. I thought elite sportsmen were exempt because they're constantly tested. Does Orta have the quarantine for two weeks before he goes on to make our next deal?
Good point, just shows the media are all guessing still. I think sports and those associated with it can travel and avoid quarantine if they remain in their “Bubble”
I would imagine he'll be over here to sign his paperwork and take photos etc. and then train with the squad for a week before flying out for the international games. I would imagine he won't have to quarantine due to the testing and I think they'd probably try get around the quarantine prior to flying to the UK otherwise a lot of premier league players won't be playing the couple of games due to quarantine which just isn't going to happen. I think Kent is versatile and I think he'll probably play a part in the middle of the park where Pablo plays and obviously Pablo won't be playing every week in the PL. Agreed with the sleeve sponsor, looks ugly. Will that be on the shirts the fans buy? As that's really off putting. Liking the leaked away kit though, very nice.
Morning all. Before a ball is kicked it is difficult to say who our rivals will be this season. From watching Brighton last season I would say we are a lot better than them already so would hope to be away from them in the table. £15 million for Kent is the top bid I'd make. If we can get him for that then brilliant. If turned away then thanks but no thanks. I've said before based on the signings we are making/ linked with that the pressure for goals this season is being taken away from Bamford and given to the players behind him. Bamford will continue to play for his work rate and hold up play. The likes of Harrison, Costa, Klich, Roberts, Pablo, Rodrigo and Kent* will be expected to bang in goals. Some of them should be getting into double figures and i think that's Bielsas game plan.
Morning all Rodrigo will be meeting Bielsa and his team mates and training with Leeds. Bid for Koch has gone in and Koch so far has said he wants to come to Leeds. That deal should get done for between £10m-£15m but if other clubs get involved? Ollie Watkins and Brentford seem to have blown it with WBA as they pulled out of the deal as the price is too high at £20m. The one position we still need to fill is the Pablo role and Kent is on a shortlist and believe Eze was on the same list but he wants to stay in London. We had a cheeky bid for Kent last Friday but haven't gone back as you can bet we are speaking to others on the list. We may go back and have another go but only when we have to. Rangers will sell because they need the cash. Kent plays these days as a 10 and thats what we want a 10 who can play wide as well and he is that, but love to know who the others are on the list we are chasing.
Good morning all i hope we sign koch as white is all about money now. Sure Gayton refused to sell him to us but if he wanted to come there are ways. As for kent we should have forked out for him last time. I thought rodrigo was a 10 and would play with Bamford. Perhaps we can sign someone who will become better than kent and for less i see the talk of the argie lads has died down. So are we to believe interest has terminated. So having thought a 29 year old was too old and expensive it just shows no substitute for experience. Brighton will be playing a friendly at hone soon. They are testing with a crowd of around 2500 i hope that is not the future of football this season.
Rodrigo will sign a 4-year deal with Leeds and this is a marquee signing make no mistake. This is like Leeds signing Harry Kane who is Englands No9, we have signed Spains No9 and they are a better team than England and Rodrigo scored 15 goals in 16 games for Spain U21s and has scored 8 in 22 for the full team and is the only No9 Spain select
Mykola Matviyenko anyone? Ukranian International CB who is a very capable LB, on the radar apparently. Were one of 5 PL teams interested at £20m .
apparently Cabral has never been on the radar and was Cabrals Agent trying to drum up business. They had seen us being linked with every Carlos Kickaball and thought why not? He did look the part though
Gessa my understanding is Koch is first choice but anything can happen and Phil Hay has just said there is a Prem player now who has Championship experience who is next on the list of Bielsa likes. Now I think that player is Callum Chambers and Arsenal fans are kicking off about it? We were told Rob Holding but maybe not? Your guy does look interesting though and why wouldnt he be on a list
If and when we manage to get Koch, I think we need another centre Back. Hard and no nonsense. I'd go after Vida, the Croatian International centre back with Basiktas He'd be 6m euros please log in to view this image
Morning all. I stick by my valuation on White, as others have said he's not proven in the Prem. Take Dan James, on the Prem transfer thread a Manure fan wants rid of him because he's pants. If White is as good as they value him then they'll play him. "Fairly sure we’ll spend, probably less than City and Chelsea will but we’ll chuck a good £150m at it. Lingard can stay, as long as Pereira, James and Jones are ****ed off. 3 players not fit to play for any team in this league."
Regarding Ben White, if we could encourage another club to buy him for us and then get them to sell him to us.
