Is this not just a cost cutting exercise by Sky, they'll get three in and pay them half the money they've been shelling out for these three. pundits add little to whatever programme it is , that's why I stopped watching Match of the Day years ago. Jeff Stelling could do the show single handed.
I can't believe anyone tunes in for the 'banter' tbh ... ... without the matches/updates people would turn off in minutes.
I liked the 2 who were commenting on the Tranmere game last season, funny and seemed to know a bit about football.
Generational change an all possibly. I can just about remember Thommo playing and I'm 47. Rest of them where a while back so bringing in the likes of Micah Richards makes sense. No idea if he's any good but Thommo was complete ****e imo so not a high bar to beat.
I wouldn't be too embarrassed if I was him. A wonderful football career playing at the highest level. And now pundits for probably millions of pounds a year. Despite not being up to your intellect mark, and battled with addiction his whole life, I'd say he's still gone on to do extremely well for himself. In terms of role models, kids these days have far far worse to look up to.
Consider yourselves lucky. I stopped watching the coverage over here because it was Michael Bridges and these two intolerable Australians. Utterly unwatchable. I'd rather watch Merson on the ****ing toilet.
He has done rather well for himself . . . . much better than I have, and you're right about there being worse role models That doesn't make him a good one, though
People being highly paid for 'hilarious' incompetence gives us all hope The world seems to be turning towards 'characters' rather than competence ... ... Trump is a shoo-in ...
I only listen to parts of the commentary (got to agree that they are generally all very good, including Isa Guha and Ebony Rainford-Brent I'd add) but there was a piece on about the history of Test Match Special as it was mostly raining all day. Most of the commentary I heard was archive footage, are you sure you weren't just hearing that? I didn't listen to the full day so he could have been on as a guest but they were also playing old commentaries.
