Where's the spin? He's agreed to lower the price of the Club to the extent of writing off debt and admits his mistakes from last season. It's a sure sign that they're serious about moving on(isn't that what we all want for the future of our Club),yet the same posters belittle it,mock it and call him a liar!!! WTF do some people want?
I think past track record makes it hard to actually believe it's more then lip service, I'd happily believe it more if they came out and told us the figures behind the comment
So when do you start believing, what does he have to say or do? I see the points raised and the answers as credible evidence that he wants rid of the Club and will lower the price to achieve that....Isn't that what we want,Isn't that what will bring the fans back to the terraces?Or after that happens will the witch hunt switch to McCann?(if he's still there)
For people to believe things, after they feel they have been misled in the past, it relies on actions, not words. That is well understood the world over. So if people believe he is a liar, then it doesn’t matter what he says...it matters what he does. I haven’t seen him actually do anything to encourage a sale by bringing the price down, but I look forward to it.
Have we heard them offer to write debt off before? That's why I posted it as it seemed a new approach.
When has he offered to write off debt and lower the price to sell? When has he apologised for last season before?
When have the Allams been in league 1 before and seeing a real possibility the of the club losing money? I appreciate some will view these new statements with a touch of optimism, and some will be more cynical.
I see a number of things happening here: 1) A face saving strategy (seems very important to the ownership ?). 2) A determination of an acceptable level of profit OR an acceptable loss level over the 10 (?) years of their ownership of the club. (compared with other kinds of conservative investment alternatives that may have been garnered over that time frame). 3) Some benefits of writing off debts to offset taxes on profits on 1 or more entities within the corporate structure. (I'm not particularly au fait with corporate tax rules in the UK, but I'd imagine there would be many similarities to Canadian corporate tax rules for debt write off). 4) Once an internal acceptance of the above have been rationalized, the selling price would be determined by the Allams (through their advisors). Projected revenue (diminished gate revenue through membership subscriptions), valuation of assets (players essentially) and heavily reduced TV income. Expenses due to operation(running) costs of the business. 5) Flushing out interested buyers who would be willing to bite ??? 6) Moving the goal posts !!!
GLP posted a quote by Assem Allam, which taken literally, points to the old boy not being entirely honest. It's then compared to What Ehab Allam is alleged to have said in respect of lowering the price of the Club and absorbing debt. I'm not being sarcastic or looking for 'bites',I'm pointing out that something fairly unique has been said in terms of marketing our Club?I'm fairly optimistic that we might see some movement in the right direction? I don't have to follow the leader here,I've got my own mind,my own thoughts and my own perceptions.
He's full of ****, nobody believes a word he says, why should this be any different? In his last interview he said the debt wasn't theirs, it was to a bank and that's why interest was charged. He made it up, there's no bank debt, he just comes out with any old ****e to placate whoever's sat in front of him at the time. There's a thread on here with links to the minutes of all the previous Supporters Committee meetings, they're full of assurance about changes going forward, none of which were ever actually implemented.
