Pre season friendlies

Connor McLaughlins delivery is abysmal. One of their lads off injured.

Looking decent.

Feeney seems strong, think he looks like good prospect.

Jack Diamond had some really good touches on the wing earlier, but looks less composed when in the centre of the park.

Not bad so far, but promising.

Liking the work rate of Scowen

 

Already looking like a real potential player Feeney. I know it’s only Gateshead and Carlisle but doesn’t he look immaculate.

Nice bit of business that.

Scowen is a little terrier we need some of that, another plus.

 

Shot just wide by Scowen after good work by gooch and diamond.

 

Scowen's had a couple of very good efforts from distance. We could get plenty of goals from midfield with the likes of him and Power having a crack.

 

Aye. Lovely strike at the weekend as well. Really promising. We didn’t see enough of him after the signing but he looks like a first XI player to me straight off pre season.

I've been banging his drum for a while - his performance away at Oxford was superb. I really think he'll be a major part in our team this year.

 

Hopefully so mate. I’m mainly taking the obvious affection Barnsley and QPR fans had for him and the tidiness we’d seen, then adding this on top with him fit.

We are really weak CM I know we will all agree so him stepping up would be a massive godsend.

 

Scowen been the only plus there for me first have. Keeper seems tidy too, nice kicks and throws.

 

We need RB looked at don’t we. Massively.

 

Definitely o’nien is the best there and it’s not his natural position.

 

anyone looking outside will know this was never going to be any kind of 'spectacle'...that said, both teams trying to play football, carlisle attacked well before we got a bit of a foothold in the game, neither team worked the keepers yet but some nice build up play from both.

liking the look of scowen here, doing some good defensive cover as well as some tenacious tackling...o'brien looking like he can provide a good 'out ball', grigg working well and looking hungry, not a bad performance all round in my eyes, obviously there are some signs that players still need to learn about each other but can see one or two useful partnerships developing, mostly down the left.

nowt to write home about, nobody really standing out but to be expected given it is pre-season and pissing down

 

I take it that it is still 0-0.

 

On a different note, the run out music is the same and we are in the same dugout as last season. I saw a few people saying that we should swap to get in the linsemans ear but we haven't.

 

Agree about needing an upgrade on McLaughlin he's an ok defender but has no composure or quality in attack whatsoever. It'd be bizarre to start the season with just him as our only natural RB.
