If they get it right, they could put themselves into a fantastic position for the next 5 years......this is the benefit of sugar daddy ownership.
All this has to be knitted together as well, what are they going to do about keeping existing squad members happy. All seems a bit mad this crazy expenditure
Same. Defensively they were poor last year...can’t see much changing tbh but if he’s replaced and has most of the components in place, they can attract a top coach.
He doesn't. He likes to believe he can say we're one-dimensional so that he has company through the night while he sits up and frets over Uniturd's debts.
They seem to have gone out and bought an entirely new front line plus Chilwell. Its like championship manager strategy, on one hand they coukd destroy every team 4/5 nil. On the other they could come up against a mass defence and lose 1 nil every game. There looks no plan to the signings, just go and buy as many good players as you can and hope it works.
Chelsea's squad is now huge again. They'll have to loan or sell some. Probably have to accept lower offers for unwanted players who will want out and clubs will know Chelsea are desperate to sell them. There will also be less chances for young players so they'll probably end up selling them as well cause they can't break into the first team, there will be more De Bruyne and Salah's in Chelsea's near future. Still rubbish CBs though.
yep if you are Abraham , Hudson-Odoi ,Gilmour and Tomori and t,o possibly a lower extent Mount , just as opportunities opened up they look like they are disappearing again .
We may have signed 16 year old Melkamu Frauendorf from Hoffenheim. Billed (of course) as 'wonder kid' midfielder and much in demand.
Id be happy to take a few of those, Gilmorton definitely, for the right price Hudson-odoi, theres a good player there if things go right.
Gilmour contracted to 2023 and can't see them letting him go however that approach cost them a fortune with the Hudson-Odoi affair .
I dont think Chelsea have ever built over a few years though, its always quick fix, multiple high transfers. Its why although they have success, they never achieve dominance
not convinced that Hudson-Odoi has fully recovered from his achilles injury plus he is reputed to be on £170kpw .
