Hey, look. I don't love the sponsor, but at this point it was either going to be a slightly dodgy betting company or Roscoe's Discount Waterbed Rentals.
They sponsored Watford last season (19/20) so suspect that they wanted to continue exposure in the PL
Probably the same way he feels about the thousands of pissed people that will be watching him play (hopefully anyway) this season. Doubt he cares - it pays his wages after all!
True, but he's entered a profession that sadly involves betting on so many levels it is difficult to avoid. Not actually aware of any Muslim in sport who has taken action on moral grounds. At the end of the day, the Government need to get hold of this and ban betting adverts in the same way they did for smoking. I suspect more lives have been ruined by gambling than smoking.
Doubt the players give sponsors too much of a second thought. Just a shame I can't see myself buying my son a shirt this year, with a betting company on (yes, I was fine buying the one with a money laundering non-company on ), as I otherwise like the kit a lot for the second season running.
The kids' shirts will be sponsor-less. They're not allowed to sell a child shirt with a betting logo on it.
I am disappointed to be sponsored by a betting company. I know the club was needing some investment because of the LD situation but there had been plenty of time to work on that; they were our sponsor all of last season. Someone didn’t do their due diligence or a “dodgy owner” is letting someone else make some decisions. I have always stated that I wouldn’t want us sponsored by one and my view or understanding hasn’t changed.
Yeah. The fact that LD wasn't fit to sponsor a bowl of oatmeal was readily apparent from day one. I do hope they might have taken a slight financial hit so that they might learn a bit of a lesson about what happened when your greed outstrips your reason. (Narrator: nothing will be learned)
Probably most, but Saints have also said in the past they wouldn't go with a betting company on moral grounds. One season of a betting company in the situation we found ourselves in is OK, but I hope we look elsewhere next Summer.
