Good Morning. It's Tuesday 25th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Rodrigo's father close to approving Leeds paperwork

Spanish media outlet Super Deporte claim Leeds are still in pole position to land Spanish International forward Rodrigo, even after late interest from Real Madrid, but it comes at a cost for the West Yorkshire side.

Recent newspaper articles are quoting fees between 22m - 30m would secure the services of the Brazilian born star; however according to the Valencia hierarchy, they have set the bar at 50m, hoping to reach a deal at 40m euros (36 million pounds).

Valencia are discussing the availability of former Real Madrid's Spanish U21 forward Borja Mayoral, but would need top sell Rodrigo to make the deal happen! The La Liga giants are long time admirers of the 29yo and may want to strike a player plus cash deal.

However, Leeds are already in advanced talks with Rodrigo's father regarding his sons contract. The report claims that Leeds may be able to secure a deal for the 29yo as soon as today!

Should taking the knee before a game continue?

It's three months to the day since George Floyd's life was taken away by the Minnesota Police force. The 46yo father was being detained on suspicion of using counterfeit money. Floyd was arrested handcuffed and was lying face down on the floor. It's only fair to point out that Floyd had a long and violent criminal record. Whilst being held held, one police officer knelt on Floyd's neck cutting off his breathing circulation. Floyd begged for the officer to stop, but to no avail. Eight minutes later he was dead!

Whilst I'm sure we were all horrified about events three months ago, has the cause turned into a political event?

As influential as it is, should the football authorities continue to enforce all players be forced to take the knee before kick off, whether they want to or not?

If they stop now, wouldn't it seem like a cheap publicity stunt?

If you were a player being asked to take the knee, would you?

Scottish Sun refutes 90mins claim regarding Kent

According to The Scottish Sun, Rangers winger Ryan Kent is furious at claims that he wants to leave Ibrox for Leeds United, and he has told manager Steven Gerrard he wants to remain at the club and help stop Celtic from winning the Scottish Premiership this term.

Kent never made a top-flight appearance for the Reds, and 90min claimed yesterday that he has told Rangers that he wants to move to Elland Road.

Definitely not. Should never have started doing it in the first place. Cringeworthy.

I think if players want to take a knee before a game they should be able to, but I dont think anyone should be forced to do that ****.
It wasn't enforced was it? I didnt know that. If it was that is disgusting, and I would sue the **** out of my employer if they forced me to take part in political activism under thread of punishment.

Ryan Kent has told Gerrard he doesn't want to go to Leeds, well thats that then move along Victor.

the Premier League can fook off its an embarrassment and anyone woke enough to think this is good is crazy. Just like the woke BBC refusing to play Land of Hope and Glory or The National Anthem. The woke brigade are burning this country down. There may even be a few on this site who think its good but the arguments caused by bringing politics into sport never works Black Lives Matter is a terrorist organisation who want to scrap the police if you start from just that published aim you cannot accept this bollox. That picture of Bamford with his fist raised whilst on bended knees made him look a prat

Rodrigo talks may well be nearing a conclusion but I fear we cannot pay him the salary he wants. Yes he was scoring for fun not long ago and Valencia put a transfer fee of €140m on his head to keep Real Madrid away, but in a poor Valencia team last season he wasnt anywhere near his best and spent time out with a knee injury. If he can be guaranteed to be fit and ready and his medical demonstrates no issues ad we base his wages on performance. Yes please sign him, but if not please get Cabral

Robin Koch talks have been ongoing all weekend and I believe Victor Orta is still in Germany and over the border in Basel trying to get deals over the line. So guessing Radz has flown from Italy to Lisbon for todays Cabral meetings?

BHA have told Leeds they will never sell White to Leeds as they see us as direct competition in the relegation stakes. This means they will sell Ben to a higher ranked club, well good luck with that. So lets hope Koch gets done because much prefer him to Holding

    Morning all..

Fingers crossed we get decent signing or two soon. Taking the knee I’d scrap it, too much peer pressure, just look at F1 several don’t take the knee and the gutter press and Sky TV are all over those who don’t

Haven't been impressed by Holding on the few occasions I've seen him play so it's a no from me as well.

I find it hard to believe we would spend that much on a few and the wages on Rodrigo but I’ll wait and see.

I don’t even know what to believe with these transfer stories anymore. I keep checking twitter and this forum all day but nothing seems to happen. Let’s hope we hear something this week.

Black lives matter yes sure they do ALL LIVES MATTER
Taking the knee should never have got started it should end now
Politics have no room on a football pitch.
If the footballing authorities want to do something useful then they should sort out the child abuse in football whatever ethnicity they are from.
Personally I find it embarrassing to see players taking a knee

Why the **** are we even importing America's problems anyway?

Okay, some US Police have been over zealous in policing their African American citizens, on the face of it, I will concede.
But we do NOT have that problem in the UK.
If some jumped up, Wannabe gangster "Blud" from London wants to conflate being stop and searched once with the murder of George Floyd, then he needs to grow the **** up.

hi mate I have got a B/S filter which mostly works out ok. The strikers is deffo down to 4 and the one which should be the simplest isnt going to happen and thats Watkins because he wants Villa. The one that should be total clickbait Rodrigo seems to be gaining traction and YEP are even on it now with reputable journos is Italy and Spain saying we have permission to speak to Rodrigos dad today. Nicolas Gonzales I thought would get done a week ago but Stuttgart are wanting to either keep him or get more money? And finally Arthur Cabral who like Rodrigo can play anywhere in the front 3 there is a meeting happening right now in Lisbon with Cabrals agents who flew in from Brazil this morning. Who are theyting though as Orta is deffo in Germany/Switserland Koch, Rodrigo deals and Radz is rumoured to be there too, or is Radz in Lisbon?

feeling confident the striker will come from those 4 and also the CB will be Koch as first choice since White is out. Not sure on Holding as I think another CB could be done if Koch falls through.

the attacking midfielder is all over the place and if you think Kent was first choice you would be wrong, but too many names and stories to get a grip on from Benrhama, Buendia, Florentino, Almada, Bailey, Eze, Wilson....... and a few more but no idea at this time as too much bull to filter out

Would much prefer Eze for the £16m quoted than Kent for £15m.
The knee should stop now, new season, new beginings.
£25m plus the wages is plenty for a 29 yr old imo.
    Agree with Leeds60 regard Cabral.

Another story just in about Rodrigo that backs up others, but I would love to know who is meeting Cabrals agents in Lisbon as that meeting is happening right now

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani and sporting director Victor Orta are in Valencia to try to get a deal for striker Rodrigo over the line, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The report claims that they’ve travelled to Turia to try to close the deal and will meet with Valencia president Anil Muthy on Tuesday.

    Morning all.

Would be a good day if we made a signing today.

    Taking the knee.

Well this thread has shown why it is time to stop it now.

That first game when the two teams and officials took the knee was a powerful moment as no one knew it was coming. It has been overdone now to the point it is annoying the ones it is trying to educate so having the opposite effect.

I feel for the players who would not want to take a knee. There are good reasons why many won't want to and I am in agreement with then. But to be feel peer pressured is not a good look.

Plus imagine being the first player to choose not to. They would be ripped apart on social media and also my mainstream media.

Not necessarily because they have done something wrong but imagine the column inches today's gutter press could fill.

Hopefully see Koch signed in the next couple of days and then Rodrigo.

If we then signed Kent as well and that was it for transfers would you be happy? Personally I would and honestly see us having a squad worthy of a mid table push rather than a relegation scrap.
