Oh dear! 60% of the entire European Union fishing quota is caught in waters off the coast of Scotland. Scottish fish is landed all over Europe. Scottish shellfish is considered the best in Europe. Spain, Portugal, England, France, Holland etc etc etc all fish in Scottish waters. Do you get it, do you understand? No probably not.
Now we agree on something . If Aldo thinks Scotland can thrive on fish n chips and Buvkfast he needs to bang his head !
Whisky sales last year were 4.5% higher than the 2018. It's an ever growing market. It's a premium product and no matter how much tareefs the Trumpster wants to impose the Yanks will still buy it. Africa, Asia and Russia will make up for any shortfall from the USA . We do have a currency of our own. Its called the pound. In fact Scottish banks have been printing the currency for over 100 years. It's already in circulation mate. Oil is on decline! Aye OK then. Severe lack of plastics these days!
You didn't read the small print in the S.E.A. did you. It distinguishes between the former Crown Land and the sea.
Nah not seeing your point here ! These are not the kind of money spinning industries that will fuel a vibrant economy . Renewables has to be at the forefront along with biotech ! Add in the fisheries and Whiskey as a small part but Scotland will really struggle post Union ! Hopefully not as I love it up there !
Every banknote is a promissory note my friend. English banknotes are backed up by the bank of England, (invented by a Scotsman) but there are many currencies where the country's government back it. Better to have a central bank ran by the elite though. In saying that, there's a good chance is Scotgov go down that road they may be accused of harbouring weapons of mass destruction.
Oh **** right off! There are 100's of independent countries on this planet that do fine that don't have half the resources Scotland has but Scotland would fail! Every independent financial analyst on the this planet has said that an independent Scotland would be in the top ten richest small countries in the world. The BBC, the Sun and the English establishment says otherwise so they must be right. Do you also believe that the unemployed have 62 inch tellies?
Scotland has nothing to back their promise without England though, as unlike England, you have no currency. It's based on confidence, and the financial people that matter don't have confidence in the Scotch economy.
The financial people that matters will give Scotland a AAA+ rating because the financial people that matter actually know their onions. Meanwhile the UK's AAA- rating is likely to take a tumble without Scotland's resources. You will be lucky to be able to pay the interest on your debt to be fair. The London tax haven will be told to start taxing cùnts.
