Good Morning. It's Monday 24th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds to test Rangers resolve with improved offer for Kent The Whites are set to test Rangers resolve laster today as they launch a second bid to land ex Liverpool winger Ryan Kent. The 23yo joined the blue side of Glasgow last September for 7.5m right under Bielsa's nose. The lure of the Premiership however, will test Steven Gerrard's managerial skills to the full. Not only will Kent be able to rub shoulders against the some of the best talent in the World, but Leeds will double his £25,000 a week wages. It is understood that Kent has a release clause in his contract, although when asked about it at the weekend, Gerrard was very coy with his response. Leeds are expected to offer 14m, almost double what Rangers paid for him ten months ago. please log in to view this image Leeds linked to former ace A pre-season would not be a pre-season without Leeds being linked to former players. I guess we shouldn't be surprised to be associated with Lewis Cook. The York born central midfielder , still only 23, joined the Cherries four years ago for 5.5m. ending a twelve year relationship with the Whites. Cook suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in December 2018. This kept his sidelined for over a year. It would be interesting to see whether the England International would be able to sustain Bielsa's training methods. Bournemouth want 15m for Cook! Good value or not? Whilst on the subject of players returning to Elland Road, Sampdoria are ready to sell Ronaldo Vieira. The 22yo joined the Genoa based club in the Summer of 2018, allowing Leeds to free up funds. It also allowed Bielsa to mould Kalvin Phillips into the player he is today! Viera's has had a difficult time at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris. We should not be surprised if he returns to English football! please log in to view this image Leeds expected to seal deal for Gunners prodigy Leeds are expected to seal the signing of Arsenal and England U18 forward Sam Greenwood. The versatile 18yo can play as a winger or forward. He has been compared to Robin van Persie because of his “exceptional ball-striking ability”. A six figure sum is believed to be agreed according to former chief football writer of the YEP, Phil Hay. please log in to view this image Whites to table 25m bid for Rodrigo Leeds are expected to table a 25m bid for Valencia forward Rodrigo. The 29-year-old Spanish international has been instrumental for Valencia in recent seasons but due to the clubs financial situation, Javi Gracia is resigned to losing some of his better players. Rodrigo revealed at the weekend that he would be interested in move to West Yorkshire! Valencia would listen to offers around £30m, though Leeds are likely to try their luck at 25m. Leeds are also interested in signing Belgium striker Divock Origi and loaning English forward Rhian Brewster, both from Liverpool. Origi signed for Pool back in 2014 for 10m at the age of 19. He made 42 appearances for the Champions in all competitions last season. Brewster was on Bielsa's hit list in January. Unfortunately for Leeds, the 20yo ended up in Swansea where he netted 11 times in 22 appearances. please log in to view this image
Morning all The only certain thing about Ryan Kent is that for some reason Bielsa rates him and that should be good enough, however it also means Liverpool will get another £3m from Rangers as they have a 20% sell on clause. Think later today we should have an idea how the weekend went with negotiations and discussions for Koch and whoever else we are really trying to get We will probably have another 18yo striker for the U23s this week as we are buying Sam Greenwood from Arsenal. Another exceptional talent and England U18 player.
Good morning, I have to say it's frustrating to go from the players we've been linked with over the last few weeks to Kent, Brewster, Cook and Origi now looking like our biggest links. I'll trust Bielsa to pick the right players and mould them into a Premier League team but at the moment it feels like once again, we're all talk when it comes to big transfers. I'll feel a lot better if we manage to get Koch over the line this week.
Morning Tommo To be fair it's not the club doing all the talking, it's the media linking us with all these players. Over the last couple of years we usually sign players who haven't been linked.
Good morning everyone Nineteen days to go and counting, away at Liverpool first, talk about a Baptism of fire, as Tommo said i too will be much happier to see a real quality signing like Koch get over the line, the others (other than Kent) i would feel a bit underwhelmed & has Bielsa actually put pen to paper yet? i guess it's a foregone conclusion, but even so.I really hope everything get's sorted this week, Bielsa's signature and most of the transfer activity, as we need to be prepared & settled by the twelfth of september, or i fear a right tonking could be on the cards, now i will be honest here, some will shoot me down, but at the moment i would be content with a good solid performance and a narrow defeat.
Morning all... Is it a case that we ask about availability, we get told yes for the right price then we discover their wages and move on? Are we really in for Rodrigo, surely he seems a no brainer? Like Tommo says one day it’s wow Rodrigo the next it’s Cook. I felt last week was the week we’d see some major arrivals but sadly not. If we end up with Cook, Brewster and Kent I’m going to feel very underwhelmed after Watkins, Eze, Rodrigo and the Argentinian guy we were linked with.
Morning all Still trying to be patient waiting for the glorious 12th. Pointless getting wound up about this player or that player what will be will be.
Ristacs right, have Watkins, Eze, Rodrigo and the Argentinian guy, gone by the wayside now & are definitely off the table ?
Morning Ristac Unfortunately the only arrivals we saw last week were the ones on the coast of Kent Oops sorry wrong thread
Morning all. I saw a stat on twitter last night. Since the beginning of the transfer window prem clubs have only made 33 transfers total. This is a very different and slow transfer window for everyone. Leeds have bid up to 30 million for White. I honestly think Brighton are cutting their nose off to spite their face in turning us down now. We have bid 10 million for Kent and will probably be going in with an higher bid which should get us the player. It sounds like the Koch deal will be done sooner rather than later. I don't get all the doom and gloom. If we had gone in and bid 5 million for White and then said "OK we tried but Brighton are not being realistic" then alarm bells should ring. If we accepted Rangers first knock back and didn't go back in then alarm bells should ring. Yes, we are used to transfer windows being **** but step back and look at us now. Don't look at us from the perspective of the last 16 years.
For me personally... We are behind everyone in the league as we are weaker than when we started and when we finished last season and Bielsa is a stickler for not playing anyone new until they are “Bielsa” fit. Bamford does divide opinion but he is useless at converting chances and we’ve lost our best CB. The rest of the PL already had teams good enough to compete, I don’t believe we do. That added to our record of chasing players for too long then panicking for whoever is left. Bamford wasn’t first choice, Nketiah on loan wasn’t first choice, Augustin wasn’t first choice, each were brought in after spending too long chasing other players. I don’t think there are too many supporters that wouldn’t have moved on from Ben White over a week ago. Why sit there slowly increasing your offer to £25m when Brighton slap a £40m tag on his head.
I really thought, we would have had a quality striker in by now at least, to convert a higher percentage of the decreasing number of chances we will be able to make in the premier league.
