Diego, feller - the whole world and wife, Chelsea fans included, know that had Liverpool not baulked at the price, then Werner would be at Liverpool. But okay, to indulge you - Werner snubbed Liverpool because he was more impressed with Chelsea - so where does that leave Tel's argument that we couldn't afford him?

Just trying to get to the bottom of things mate, was it that you couldn't afford Klopps first choice or did he prefer someone else. I guess you just sorted that for me <ok>

£30m is steep for a 29 year old in the current climate. I'd buy him, yes, especially if Windy is going. But he's not needed as much as a spare left back (done) and fourth striker if Origi goes, Minamini doesn't fire, Shaqiri goes or spends another season on the treatment table, and we let Brewster go out on loan again. The fact that we're being careful with our money doesn't mean we're skint - it just means we don't have as much disposable money as we thought we'd have preCovid, and we're not prepared to go in debt, as we only see City as our challengers next season. That and we're saving for Sancho next season.

We couldn't afford Werner as a bench-warmer, no, but we would have had it not been for Covid. Not afraid to admit that. The fact that other teams are having to desperately spend in this climate, with their revenues falling, to keep up with us and City, piling debt on debt, is their problem. <ok>

    Bench warmer <laugh>
For another £3m you could have had cover/rotation for two of your most important players which in a season perspective could mean millions if he helped win the league again or take you further in the CL.

Liverpool couldn’t even afford to pay their own staff through a pandemic ffs, tried furloughing the lot of them until they were shamed by all fans around the country and they borrowed money to pay their bills.

Shamed by their own fans, not fans around the country. If you think Liverpool backed down from that atrocious decision because they were concerned what Uniturd and Blueshite fans thought, then it's no wonder you think your club is financially healthy and able to go on spending beyond its means in a futile attempt to keep up with us and City.

Oh, and of course we need a fourth CB, but not Koulabaly, immense as he would be alongside Virgil. Even without Covid, that would have been an indulgence, but post Covid it's unthinkable. And that sums up our financial situation - stable, and able to weather the financial shock of a post-covid season, after hoping to have another Instanbul-type bounce around the globe back in February (but this time with some sharp-end-up businessmen at the helm instead of the clowns who didn't even open the Kop Shop the day after Istanbul). Pity that the dumping of FFP is going to inflate player prices in a market when they should be going down, but as you're finding with Sancho, well run, financially stable clubs are in a position to weather the next year and are not desperate to sell.

    Backed a racist.

    Furloughed staff.

    Skint as ****.

And you backed Rio after he retweeted a racist rant about Cole.

Didn't furlough staff as our own fans (and nobody else) stopped it.

    Financially stable.

Never bought Sanchez in the most futile attempt in the history of The Prem to keep up with the top teams, and are now on the brink of repeating that ****uppery.

    Carry On United. <cheers>

Backed Rio after his brother was racially abused by John Terry and Cole backed Terry? Yes.

Furloughed our staff like you did? Nah, we shamed your club by setting the example. Argue that all you like, it’s a damn fact.

You lot printed Suarez t shirts after he racially abused Evra because your football allegiance is more important to you than your human principles.

****ing lol. Kopites trying to dress up the fact that their Sherman owners are patently more interested in paying off their loan for the stapler stand than investing in players, as the RS being the moral guardians of the sport. Fiscal responsibility in action lads. Get the **** out <laugh>

Neither was Virgil. Maguire should have been though.

And that last bit is what we're doing to you - we spend a world record on a cb because we absolutely need him. He makes a huge difference. You go further in debt by breaking that record for a modern day Larry Lloyd, at least four times over-value, trying to keep up. Only if City didn't want to buy Koulibally would you have a chance of getting him, and even then you'd pay 25% more than City as you did with Sanchez. Then you'd turn him into another Lindelflop.

Rinse and repeat as the Glazers keep on milking that moo cow. :emoticon-0103-cool:

Tobes, much as you can never resist the temptation to rush to the assistance of your parent club, you know damn well what I think of FSG. Truth of the matter is that, as with Spurs and Arsenal before them, paying off the stand always took priority over all but essential signings. As you'll find out if your snake-oil salesmen ever get around to building your stadium. Even more important post-Covid when the millions we had banked on for winning the Prem for the first time has largely evaporated.

Btw, are you in favour or against FFP this week?

And you lot backed Schmeichal to the hilt when he called Wright a black bastard, and Fergie told him not to answer any questions on it. And United had absolutely no bearing on Liverpool overturning their furlough decision, and nor did any other fans - it was 100% our fans that did that, and you ****ing know it.

Hahaha, yeah them paying off that debt in double quick time is nothing to do with them wanting to maximise their return when they cash their chips in, yet here’s you trying to argue they’re somehow doing the right thing.

The club is doing the only thing it can do. I wouldn't want Werner if it meant we had a stadium debt longer than we need to. Another Virgil or Mane? yes, if we needed them. I 100% do not deny that we had plans to buy more players, Werner being one of them, had we not taken such a huge hit through Covid. The fact that everyone else has too, apart from the sugar-daddy clubs, means that if you're racing to keep up, you have to go into debt now. We don't. We probably will need to do so next year though, for sure. Then we'll find out what FSG's priorities are.
