THERE IS A POSSIBILITY will be a deal in January … in excess of £2m ….. should crowds be allowed and no stoppage for COVID 20 ...
Two millions I would have thought they would be happy to get there money back.Plus get rid of the wages.
Was he really that bad? But then again I am asking because I have never seen him play and it seems he didn't cut the mustard in the eyes of the most important aspect of Bristol City- you!
I saw every minute of his appearances, either live or on BCTV. IMHO on the + side he was quite strong, held the ball up well and occasionally had an eye for goal. On the - side, injury prone, pretty one dimensional on the ball, hardly ever managed to beat a defender, I could never get my head around what he offered in the long term. A negative signing for the negative tactics of the past couple of years. Not his fault, must have been one that LJ could 'trust'.
Although Diedhou is our top goal scorer I feel the same about him as I do with Massengo, which is not seeing through obvious weaknesses and questioning their long term value if we ever decide we want more than mediocrity.
I get where you are coming from, to be honest I feel that Diedhiou has been very poorly coached, he has every conceivable attribute needed for a target man, but he is incredibly one dimensional IMHO. He is reactive never proactive, he never gambles on a long ball going over the top of the defender. He realises that the ball is coming to him, when it has almost already arrived. Hardly if ever goes near post, something that even if he misses a cross, he should have pulled defenders out with him, creating space in behind for others. Instead he invariably stays far post behind his marker, even at set pieces. He needs to occasionally go near post for set pieces again to drag defenders out to create space in behind. As for Massengo I think he needs to be out on loan, somewhere like Exeter perhaps, I thought after his initial success, as soon as we hit the long losing streak in December, playing him in a losing/short on confidence team was a massive mistake, we had a habit under Johnson of continually playing struggling players and misusing players by playing them out of position and also just not playing them at all, I hope that has now ended under new management.
Behave, the bloke can barely trap a bag of cement, no coach can correct that at his age. Your constant jibing at LJ is becoming as boring and predictable as RP...
Well thanks for adding more evidence for the case against Johnson, remind me who paid our record fee of 5.3 million for the bloke who can barely trap a bag of cement?
Make your mind up Jiffie, you rate him, yet say Johnson wasted money on him??? So blinded by your hatred, you're now contradicting yourself. I don't rate him, but don't agree £5.3m was a waste of money, it's about average for this division for a striker, I just think he hasn't done enough and needs too many attempts to get a goal. Many teams have spent more in this league and got worse, look at Cardiff with Madine.
This is so funny, me contradicting myself?, have a word, you don't rate him but don't think our record fee of 5.3 mil is a waste of money for a bloke who you say can barely trap a bag of cement, if that isn't contradictory I don't know what is. I don't give a fig what other teams have done I only care about BCFC. So if you think he hasn't done enough, are you saying his lack of trapping ability happened after he signed or before. I actually watched Diedhiou in one of his final games for Angers away at Lorient in a 2-2 draw, where he was playing completely isolated as a loan striker, but unlike with us he had a very efficient and fast breaking midfield to back him up and he was awesome, I was surprised we got him. PS:- it's not hatred, the bloke failed basically from December to May 3 years on the trot. I loved Terry Cooper all through his reign in charge of BCFC but he was sacked at the right time it happens.
I quite rate Fammy, 41 goals in 124 games, cup and league, not always easy scoring goals under LJ ( not a dig) and a well respected team member, I hope he stays.
That's because £5.3m isn't that much money in the modern game, so not a big waste of money as he has scored goals, whereas Watkins for me was a bigger waste of money at £1m. When you consider how much money LJ recouped on players in the last 3 seasons, our 'record' outlay of £5.3m is quite paltry in comparison.
5.3 mil is a lot of money for us. it's our record fee, I would be surprised if we break it any time soon. For the record only Webster and Brownhill were his signings, the others he recouped money on were already here when he arrived.
Quote Jiffie said: ↑ Well thanks for adding more evidence for the case against Johnson, remind me who paid our record fee of 5.3 million for the bloke who can barely trap a bag of cement? ..Quote] His worth is based on all round play .. attack and defense … presence …. not just how many goals he scores … admitted should he score 18 -20 goals his value may soar into double figures … get 10/12 goals by January and likely to be worth double that 5.3m often people take things at face value … a goal every 3 games is good … bearing in mind a lot are not complete games …..
