You’ve got to accept that our model is buy young, develop, sell at a profit, reinvest A game of wage leapfrog among your players doesn’t help this. If he gets £40k more then some senior players will want the same and your wage bill is getting out of control I’m sure they’re trying to keep Bednarek here for the optimal time for that equation an it may be he’s turning down any new deal One day we’ll b able to put the faulty foursome behind us, we got it wrong In our defence Mo is a good PL player, but SPL not EPL Lemina is obviously talented, but deranged Hoedt and Carillo? There is no defence!
Welbeck just doesn't fit our model in any way shape or form. Just see this as paper talk not a real deal
Messi to Sign for Saints With Danny Ings scoring the majority of Southampton's goals last season it is fair to say Southampton would in the market for a goal scorer this summer. One player Southampton should be looking to sign is Lionel Messi, according to SoriaSaints. After being in the Barcelona team that lost 8-2 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League Messi would obviously now be looking for a move. SoriaSaints was quoted as saying on Not606 "Southampton are team on the up and who wouldn't want to play in a team with Danny Ings, Jack Stephens and Will Smallbone? So he should come and play for Southampton". Click bait headline, ludicrous transfer not likely to happen and quote from an obscure journalist, ex player or a nobody who sounds plausible. These NewsNow stories are easy to write
As if we would even look at Messi He just would not fit into this saints team. He is not young enough for a start...............We prefer players we can make into Messi type players...now who have we got we can start with??? ....................
Reference Messi, and my observations when watching him standing still or just walking around when not on the ball and needing the ball played to feet, the team that signs him will be the one that moves the contract beneath his pen, to save him from exerting any unnecessary energy. He’s still a football genius though. Up there with Chris Marsden.
Much rather sign "un-proven" players then "PL ready" players. We also gave Forster £80k a week, and that turned out well...
Forster is the only example of a Saints player who we gave too big a contract to and now can't get rid of - the others are all "unproven" signings that failed. Better (& cheaper) to keep your own Saints-proven players with inflated wages than splash out millions on transfer fees and wages for a replacement. Even if it is just to keep them for 1 more year then sell them for big money.
Not sure who HITC news are but l saw this: REPORT: SAINTS MOVE AHEAD OF NEWCASTLE AND BUNRLEY FOR OMAR COLLEY, £16M BID MADE
Me neither. Just in case anyone didn't realise that Rate him or not it was only 12 months after his previous extension wasn't it? Not the way to do it.
A Gambian CB who plays for Sampdoria and turns 28 in October. Know nothing of him, but he got 10 yellows in 31 games last season.
