Have a feeling Jeremiah could run well in the Ebor with that man Jim Crowley on again. Horse is a bit of a beast and is likely to be one of the bigger horses in the field. In blustery conditions it could be just what you need. Paddy Power are giving away a free £5 bet which i know is small but hey its free so I have wacked it on him to win at 25/1 in case Crowley has another very good day..
Not sure why his mark wasn't listed but his official BHA rating coming in was 107. I suspect that will be reduced after an awful effort today. Must have been something wrong there, tailed off 37 lengths off the back of the rest,
2.10 at Uttoxeter Thanks to Captain Pops for Hello Bob and Stick for Flintrock. Backed both each way.. Boom boom shakalaka boom get in

They are expecting a very good effort from her. Good luck all.[/QUOTE] Boooommmm! Actually went off 14s
"3.00 Safe Voyage - One Master looks a worthy fav, but SV is in my tracker, so ....." I bet you all want to see what else is in my tracker now ............. or maybe not
Wow, not so bad at all. Solomon Grey 1st at 15/8 fav., and I thought Glencadam was going to win it, but the favourite was just too good. So, the 33/1 I got earlier makes it a decent e/w bet. So, I will shut it down for today!
Trueshan was disappointing, he found next to nothing in the closing stages. The Fav obliged at a good price, so well done to his backers. I thought Ben Macdui travelled well into his race today but he found little for pressure and actually weakened to finish 5th. Again the Fav won at a decent price in that one. I didn't manage to get the Group Irish race posted up but regular readers might have remembered that I commented on Pretty Gorgeous last time out when she was second to Shale that day. I though Joseph O'Brien's horse was a promising looking filly who perhaps needed a mile and in the racing thread for that day I said:- "Pretty Gorgeous could be the one to take from the race. She is a filly of more substance than the winner and back to a mile she may be a better prospect." Kept to 7F today but on soft/soft to heavy in places going today, compared to good ground last time, I felt that Pretty Gorgeous would reverse the form with the stiffer test of stamina. I did not see much support for that theory in the press today and Shale seemed all the rage but you have to stick with your belief and Pretty Gorgeous put them all to the sword, with 7/4 Fav Shale 2 and a half lengths back in 2nd. Early days of course but I would have Pretty Gorgeous prominent in the betting for the Classics after that showing today and her 3/1 win was a saver for me on a tricky Saturday. Sadly I only caught it on replay as I was hanging cabinets in the Bathroom. Shouldn't be allowed on a Saturday that carry on!
For a while now I have brewing up for a rant about stalls loading. I finally have a good reason to vent my spleen. Unseen by the useless ITV commentators TRUE SELF was fast asleep in the gate today and was left ten lengths at the start. Even over 1m 6f you cannot win from that position. So why the rant? Every race I watch it seems to take forever to load the stalls. There are horses going in backwards, horses going in with Monty Roberts rugs, horses with a specialist loading team etc etc. Because many of these horses have their foibles and are pandered to you have a loading order. So what I hear you say. Well the loading process can take 5 to 10 minutes with races rarely going off within three minutes of the advertised time. So if your horse goes in like a lamb it is cooped up in the gate for all that time and by the time they are all ready its mind is no longer on the job in hand (possibly). The argument trotted out to support this sport is often that they love it. Well if they loved it so much why dont they want to go in the gate and get the fun going quicker. Its my opinion that they should be loaded in draw order, odds first and evens second. If your horse cannot be trained to walk into a stall forwards then it doesnt get to take part. Harsh maybe but where in all this is the fairness toward the horses that do not create a problem?
Been doing my head in for a long time as well Stick, imo trainers should be embarrassed. You just dont see it anywhere near as often in any of the other racing countries I watch. Loading 1 at a time makes no sense either, you see calm horses being walked around by other handlers as 1 is holding everything up. There is a general lack of concern on our courses for getting races off on time which compounds the issue of trainers not giving a ****, and its only recently ive heard about horses having to pass stalls tests if they refuse to go in. Maybe in the US they are much better because the start is so important, the trainers probably do a lot more stalls work than over here, it seems like a very basic thing that any trainer should be able to do. You very rarely see a Ballydoyle horse playing up which is a credit to them.
You are spot on about Ballydoyle. How difficult can it be to have a mock starting gate in the yard or at the start of your gallop and to walk every horse through it before it does its spin. You are also right that ours are by far the worst I see. In the States, in France and even in Ireland you see far less of this nonsense pre-race.
