Second time this game the commentator has called Sess ‘Gedson’. They’re literally on the opposite sides of the pitch.
He also called Alli Gedson at one point! Probably finding it a bit odd that he's doing all the talking and there's no co-commentator. **** knows why, as Clive Allen's there for the half/full-time punditry.
Moura and Winks replaced by Alfie Devine and Dane Scarlet, who apparently aren't a duo from a Ru Paul show.
Hart replaced by Gazzaniga. Alli replaced by Bowden. Not sure either keeper's done anything yet in this half.
3-0 FT. Pretty boring 2nd half. What did we learn from that? Not a lot. Hopefully Mourinho picked more out of that than I have. Good to see a lot of academy players getting some game time, but that's about it.
Good run out for the lads. Can’t really comment on the established senior players because they all just looked as you’d expect them to. Sess looked a bit better but I worry about his decision making at times. Of the new boys, PEH looked good. Hart barely touched the ball. Alfie Devine, can’t say I noticed too much, but the game was dead by the time he came on, no structure. So perhaps not surprising. Of the youngsters you’d expect to be near the 1st team this season, Cirkin had a promising outing in the second half. Looks tricky and prepared to take a man on. White looks a silky midfielder, clipped some nice passes around, though he was rarely under pressure when doing so. Gedson was my revelation of the game though, I’m now convinced he’s best at RB. He’s got an unexpected turn of pace, good fitness, can use his skill to go past a man, and his positioning offensively was really good, always offering an out ball for the defence. He’s obviously got to learn the position more but I’m surprised and encouraged at what he showed today. All of this with a pre-season sized pinch of salt, of course.
Still needs a hell of a lot work with decision making and end product but Gedson is very much likely to have a better chance at RB than he will CM if he stays with us. He’s got the engine to get up and down, plus the skill to beat a man but too many times he held the ball for too long or chose the wrong option. With time that can be coached, at least I’d like to think so. Thought Clarke looked good too. Again, decision making wasn’t always the best and definitely needs to hit the gym but there’s a player in there. Silky with the ball and looks a natural RW who’ll cross into the box more so then cut inside. Real shame Scarlett seemed a little impeded when trying to get on the end of Clarke’s cross, would’ve been a great moment for both even in friendly. Cirkin is also definitely ready to play some first team football. Depending on where Jose sees Sess at the moment, Cirkin may very well be starting in Europa. White and Devine didn’t look out of depth at CM. Both also showed Winks how to pass the ball forward . Thought the Hart-Gazza sub was absolutely pointless, Hart should’ve just played the second half today and Gazza doing so the next match. Roughly 22 minutes each in goal when we were hardly troubled does nothing for either. Opposition weren’t the greatest but a good run out for us in the end.
Clarke looked useful on the ball but ran into blind allys too often , must be a thing all Tottenham wingers are taught
He's at it! The season hasn't started yet give Winks a break and let's see how he works in a new midfield. Have another beer and relax
Just excited to see an 18 year old and a 16 year old understanding how to pass the ball forward, that’s all
I think Winks made one or two forward passes too, but it's good to be excited about the young players. Do you think we have any potential super stars in the making?
This might explain some of the absentees this afternoon... Another late collapse for a Burnett side. Just saying...
Parrott as we all know is very, very highly rated and I think if he hits the ground running at Millwall he’ll come back and look to challenge Kane the following season, although this may be our last season with Kane so it’s all the more important for Parrott to do well in his loan. I think Cirkin could very well be our breakthrough player this season due to the uncertainty at LB. Davies is a very solid defender but offers little going forward whereas the jury’s still out on Sessegnon as to where his positional future lies, so if Cirkin can get a chance and prove to Jose he’s the full package at LB, there might be a good few chances for him providing we don’t balls it up in Europa. My personal outside bet is Brandon Austin as a potential number one. First keeper I’ve been excited about from the academy. Problem for him though is we’re stacked with keepers and it’s probably the hardest position to get first team chances in. I’m hoping he can maybe emulate Dean Henderson at Utd, go on loan for a couple years, perform brilliantly and then come back looking to challenge for the number one spot. The likes of White, Walcott, Clarke, Bowden etc will probably need a loan or two to give us a better chance at judging what type of future they can have.
