If we sign Graham hopefully we'll ship Wyke out as he just isn't good enough and try and get a fast and powerful striker in the squad, so if things are not working in a particular game we can turn to plan B, rather than just having one plan where teams can easily work us out.
Bit torn on this one. Graham is deffo a grafter and puts a shift in and ability wise is head and shoulders above Wyke but obviously is 35, so not exactly one for the future. However, if we can't find a young un who can bring others into play as Graham does, I'd see why we'd sign him.
For his ability to bring others into play I can see the logic. If Parky sets up the same way as last season where the two other forwards cut in off the wings, you need a forward who can hold onto the ball and bring others into play, and Graham is well capable of that at this level imo. And we would have three very different type of players to play as a 9. Wyke as a lump to hoof to, Graham to hold it up, Grigg to make runs off the last defender. I still think one of the reasons Grigg struggles is because teams defend really deep against us, not giving him the space to move into. But if someone sets up with a high press, he's ideal.

Wyke may as well have handed Graham his shirt on the way out ... ... ffs Charlie man, you can't complain about the support you've had.
I've heard that Graham is "definitely" signing for the lads in the coming days, from a reliable source of sorts. I wouldn't take it as gospel and just wait until official confirmation from the club.
I still believe Griggs lack of goals came from lack of service, no wonder he spent so much time in his own half and on the wing.
His confidence deffo took a dive fairly rapidly after them first couple of games for us imo. But I don't disagree about the service. Both Denver with his crossing and Gooch passing the ball quicker are areas those two can improve. And we never really had any competition for the wide slots so having O'Brien and hopefully Diamond will help with that. I've not included Maguire as he had a really good season, 10 goals and 12 assists is a healthy return. I still think if we get the Grigg who can score 20ish goals we'll easy be top 2. Maguire and Gooch got 10 each so if they can replicate that, and I see no reason why they can't, there's 40 goals between 3 players. We'd scored 48 after 36 games last season, one of the lowest in the top ten whereas we'd only conceded 32 which was the second best defensive record. Wyke clearly isn't good enough to be our first choice no.9 if we want promotion so we deffo need to sign another striker and hope Grigg has a really good season. I think he will, but I'm an optimistic type of camel at heart.
Grigg can play, no question, the question is does he really want to, we will soon see, I hope so, as when he does he is a class act. If he had hit the ground running, things would be a lot different today, especially for SD.
