I couldn't blame him if he wanted out. His development is probably better served elsewhere and he does have a fair bit of potential (that's all it is at present mind). Hence Udinese had a look.

Udinese had a look only because of Watford as they are owned by same people. Udinese sign him for nothing and loan to Watford. Watford would've had to pay a more substantial amount if done directly.

Now that Watford are relegated Matty won't want to go there.

What I did find odd is comments that it wasn't just wages but also game time yet SB wouldn't give him a chance in those meaningless games.

He needed to leave. All youngsters need to leave us whilst we have MA as owner and managers of the ilk of Steve Bruce.

If you are an ambitious youngster who has the potential to be above average, you don't stay with us. What can we offer?

Absolutely - look at what any of our decent youngsters have gone on to do since leaving...like probably the best over the last 15 years or so - Andy Carroll? He probably would have been better off staying (don't blame him, doubt he forced the move to Liverpool).

Dummy and Sean Longstaff anyone? Dummy has gets regular game time (106 top flight apperances/170+ altogether), captained the team, played for his international team and played in Europe? Longstaff could be a one club hero and achieve similar if we and he progress enough but has 32 games in his first two seasons as a senior player.

The only one I could think of note who have gone on to better things is probably Mbabu playing in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg and possibly Ivan Toney in a few years time - looking like he'll get an EPL move soon enough but will probably end up around our level. Apart from that probably next best was Tavernier? Lewis Gibson went to Everton few years back not sure he's made much progress in his 9 matches for Fleetwood on loan last year

Truth is if you're coming through at Newcastle you'll probably be a Newcastle standard player in the future if you do well.

Possibly the case but Udinese or Watford wouldn't waste their time if they didn't think he had something to offer at this level. Beggars can't be choosers so we should be grateful he's here and try to make the most of his ability.

Bruce massively ****ed up not giving M Longstaff, T Allen and J Young their head in the end of season games. I get it, he was worried about getting mullered, knacking their confidence and the fans were already on his case despite a decent season. I don't think anyone would kid themselves in this regard, the fans would have been all over him if they'd struggled. However managers should not protect their own neck, and should try to do the best for the club. The fans are not a good barometer for making decisions, most of them are idiots. Giving them a chance was the better option for me.

I read somewhere that if he played a couple more games it triggered an automatic contract extension and payrise.

Wouldn't surprise me. I still think that's the case with Muto: plays another game means money to Mainz

It’s defo the case. It is not often than not. We sign players on these terms: then the manager cannot play them. Lazaro apparently was a loan fee plus appearance fee. So we don’t play him unless absolutely necessary.

I suppose our support has to carry the can for some of that, the treatment of him was a disgrace. Given he basically matched Rafa who was a god to many, to be hated so much was bizarre at best. But I have no sympathy, you've got to have a set of balls to manage here, that's the way it is, so you should ignore the fans and do the best for the club. He didn't he looked after No.1 in my opinion.

I remember when Dennis Wise was tasked with bringing us youth players, and he bought a "golden generation" of the likes of Nile Ranger (wife beater and granny defrauded), Haris Vuckic (struggled to get on the Rotherham bench), Fabio Zamblera (last seen in the Italian 4th tier, retired at 25), Ben Tozer (one of the only ones who's had a career...but in League 2), Samuel Adjei (plays in some mickey mouse team in New Zealand) and Wesley Ngi Baheng (I know right, who? Wasn't good enough for Aldershot Town and Hereford United apparently).

So not only is our youth system **** in producing players, we are actively recruiting dross.

Has he dicked your missus or something? The level of your hatred for him makes no reasoned sense at all. Come on did you come home and find old bacon face giving the his pork fat to the old lady?

You not getting any either or is chippy giving her too much.

    1. He's useless as a manager. See his stats.

    2. The football we've watched is ****

    3. He screwed over every club he's managed this far.

Now take off your anti-rafa glasses.

You can't turn it around onto me, I'm not a Bruce fan <laugh>

I'm not a Rafa fan either.

I just judge players and managers objectively because very rarely do they truly give a **** about the club or fans. A number of fans have never worked that out. I think the most I've felt connected with a group of players and manager was under Hughton, where we had had to weed out the split pea hearts and mercenaries.

Chippy couldn't get a hard on. He's from Consett. They put bromide in the water years ago to stop them breeding and try to shut the place down.
