As the last winner on Match Day Thread v Leicester I am more than happy to kick off the new season (no friendlies) if thats OK
Presumably the squad cap just announced will change a few plans including the immediate futures of a few under 21's
For those who haven't seen it: "Championship clubs will be limited to 25 players under new rules which will ease over-spending in the English Football League. It is the first time clubs outside the top tier have agreed to set the squad limit, which also includes a minimum of 8 players being 'home grown'. Players under 21 on 1/1/2020 will not count unless they have been signed on loan." We currently have 28 players who count, but that includes Vrančić, Leitner, Trybull and Drmic. We also have 4 under 21 players, plus Famewo and Thomas if they move up this season after their late debuts at ManCity. Of the 32 players now, 13 are 'homegrown'. Famewo and Thomas would make that 15. SW's emphasis on developing young players is really paying off.
Farce alert, NCFC could be without 15 players for League Cup tie with Luton: https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city...ut-15-players-for-hatters-cup-clash-1-6800703 GK: Krul is with the Netherlands, McGovern a N.Ireland regular, Barden a regular with the Welsh U19s Oxborough is out injured. Idah is our only striker not expected to be called up. Potentially looking at: ? Thomas, Zimmermann, Klose, Xavi Tettey, Sitti Onel, Stiep, Martin Idah.
It may be that we can get Mair back from Kings Lynn for the match if we haven't given permission for him to be cup tied. I wouldn't have any problems with the line-up DH named. It may also depend on whether Vrančić, Trybull and Leitner are still around and Famewo could provide cover at CB.

Not exactly an easy start by any means but it should give us an early indication of how we respond to the new season.
Had a dream last night that we were playing away from home. I thought it was Blackburn, but they were playing in green. We went a goal down but then scored two in a minute. Maybe I should have a tenner on it.

I’d say by Championship standards that’s a tough start. Away to Huddersfield, ok they were close to relegation and we would look to win, but with a relegation hangover - I’d take a point. We have Preston at home, Bournemouth away and Derby at home. All of those will have high hopes for the season of play-offs at least. We then have an easier patch, though promoted clubs can be a bit of an unknown. By the time we get to Brentford away, we should have a good idea of how we are looking... OTBC
