A glowing reference for the new Head Coach. https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/18660835.former-watford-midfielder-praises-new-head-coach/
Does anyone here subscribe to The Athletic? Apparently has an update on Pervis Estupiñan - who is here but has to do 14 days quarantine - includes the club's plans for him and info about players leaving. https://theathletic.com/2001701/202...r-transfers-suarez/?source=emp_shared_article
Putting a lot of hope on the youngsters expecting Sarr and Suarez to stay and allowing Deeney /Welbeck to leave. We will see. Shane to read Hughes might be injured.
I dont want to see Deeney go, like him or hate him - he galvanises the squad IMHO. his presence has, i think, covered and smoothed over the merry go round of managers the club has had Do people think he will leave?
An interesting analysis of who to keep and who to let go - I don't know who the lad is, but he talks a lot of sense.
He is on Talksport from 8. Seems to be a lot of dislike for Troy mainly because people say he is past it. Everyone pinning their hopes on Sarr, Pedro and Suarez it seems. 2 of whom may not even be at the club come the end of the transfer window. Only needs them or an agent to kick off and they'll be off. See Deulofeu for example.
Deeney on Talksport: “I won’t actively look to leave. Watford is my club. I could have gone to Leicester after they won the Prem and play Champions League football. If I didn’t leave then, why would I want to leave now? But if the club want to move me on then that’s OK, I’m a big boy.”
I think that if TD leaves then it will only be a case of taking his Birmingham City tattoos back to their rightfull place Unfortunately whereas 32 would be nothing for a player such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is still running around getting new contracts at 38 it is, unfortunately, a ripe old age for English strikers on a diet of pies and beer. Any move for him could only be to another championship club so he might as well stay where he is.
It appears amazing that Italian owners would allow a team to enter a season with a sub standard defence in the way the Pozzo's did with us. We are crying out for a Franco Baresi figure at the back - an older grizzly player with Catenaccio in his blood, who takes no prisoners. But then it appears that the Pozzo's do not have good Italian connections - the fact that Udinese only have 4 Italians in their squad (from 23) tells me that they do not have good connections with their own homeland. Instead they have a squad of 23 taken from 14 different countries - all journeymen who the Pozzo's hope to develop and then sell on at some stage. Unfortunately it is this scattergun approach to player recruitment which has led to the present situation.
Watford will host Middlesbrough on Saturday September 12 to kick off their 2020/21 EFL Championship campaign. The Hornets will then be in Carabao Cup Round Two action during midweek before a trip to Hillsborough to face Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday September 19. Before those openers, the Golden Boys will warm up for the schedule ahead with a home pre-season friendly fixture against Tottenham Hotspur. Premier League Spurs will visit Vicarage Road for a 3pm kick-off on Saturday September 5; a match all Watford supporters will be able to watch live thanks to the club’s new ‘Hive Live’ video and audio matchday streaming service. There will be more information about accessing this service across the next week. Further pre-season matches may be arranged and confirmed in due course.
I'm very curious to hear about how coverage of matches is going to work this season, given that games will be behind closed doors for a while longer and we won't have every game on TV like the tail end of the Premier League season. I don't mind listening to the audio coverage from 3CR, but as someone who lives beyond their FM signal I hope I won't have to pay for it having got used to the free commentary. I know there wasn't any coverage on the Watford FC website for the League Cup last season presumably because the EFL has different arrangements for the radio broadcasting rights, so will that mean no more free streamed radio commentary of league games now we're back in the EFL? If there's live streamed video coverage, that's different. Depending on the price, I would definitely be prepared to pay for something like that.
I am also outside the range of 3CR for some reason, but usually had their commentary via the WFC website as a backup in case the video went down. The Hive which started with the return of matches did incorporate the audio commentary, but the video content had to stop when the game started. I guess that there are rights given to local radio as well as TV companies. I am not sure that any league or cup games could be shown live unless the rights issue was changed.
https://www.watfordfc.com/news/ticket/season-tickets-202021-secure-your-seat At the end of this article it suggests that match passes for video streams will be available for £10, or £5 for overseas fans, and a one off payment for Jon Marks' live audio, prices to be confirmed later. It also suggests that there will be very few Saturday 3:00pm kick off matches streamed.
The lad is Jacob Culshaw. He runs the WD18 YouTube channel, regularly see him outside the Hornet Shop interviewing after games. Pops up on 5live occasionally a bit like Rookery Mike when a radio station wants a Watford point of view.
Everton have apparently offered Doucore a contract worth £120,000 per week. That's over £6million a year - roughly the amount they're quibbling over in the transfer fee.
Interesting that they seem to be the only club interested in him - not sure they are CL material and....I think we should make them pay even more just because of who they are!! not bitter towards them at all by the way
Need to start well then - cannot be losing to them lot up the road! I bet it will be on TV. A return game in April might be interesting if we are near the top (hopefully!)
