All depends who is interested tbh. We could win the league and if one of the top 4 from this season want him he’d still want to go I think
Of course. I do like Bedders, but if Salisu is as good as he's reputed to be, if a big club came in with a major bid for Bedders, he's not really the person I'd be most worried about leaving...
Agreed. Have to wait and see how Salisu is. My instinct tells me he is going to be very raw so may need a while to bed in (wahey). I think Bednarek is our best centre back but I don’t think anyone in that area is irreplaceable so if a big bid came in I wouldn’t be overly concerned if he left
Don't forget we have Ralph as manager if anyone can improve a player it's him. Look at JWP for example.
The optimist could hope for a new deal for Bednarek with an agreement from both sides where 1) we get him on a longer contract so we can get a higher fee for him, 2) he is given assurances we'll let him go so long as £Xm comes in, while getting a big pay rise in the meantime and 3) Salisu is brought up to speed over this season and takes over from Bed as a perfect replacement for the 21/22 season. The pessimist might predict that he'll not sign a new deal, have a good season, go for £20m next summer and Salisu turns out ****.
Or the optimist says Sally-Sue turns out to be Superman and keeps Jan out the team as we qualify for the Champions League and Jan begs to sign a new deal to play in CL in 21/22
Anything could happen, in other words I try to maintain an optimistic outlook on life but, you know, I’ve supported Saints for half a century...
With Koeman at Barca and the massive rebuild he has on his hands, it could feasibly be even sooner...
