Top 4 means long hours and study but when not working/studying you can have fun
When you work for yourself it's possible to plan your life better. I dont have any employees which means I dont have the hassle but there's always a pile of work looming.

 

I'm great at maths but too lazy to study now, I'm encouraging my eldest son to study finance when he leaves school .
Not much point going to University now unless you go into law medicine or finance.

 

I trained with Whinney Murray in the 1970s. They then became Ernst & Whinney/Ernst & Young/E&Y. They now are EY. I wonder how they will next shorten the name?
Whinney Murray were British
Ernst and Arthur Young were American

 

Its the same in every country the rich find a way to hide money from the tax man

I loved the life working for a firm of accountants. The people you worked with were bright and a lot of fun. Sometimes you worked away or went on courses and got up to crazy stuff.
I met one guy on a course and I felt sure I recognised him. It turned out he had been on TV when he was a fireman. He said he'd decided that accounting was more exciting! On the last night of the course he borrowed a girl's knickers and we got on the roof of this old building where the course was being held. He climbed up the chimney and put the knickers on a mast.
The next morning one of the course leaders waved the knickers around and asked who's were they. The girl claimed them!
Because we were mostly all trainees - even the seniors were trainees.very recently - we didnt see the managers and partners very often, there was great camaraderie I worked for a couple of companies after leaving practice and I hated the office politics..

 

Getting back to taxes.
I think the 2% online tax is ridiculous.
I think it would be better to disallow against taxable income interest and royalties from a business in another country which is controlled by the same holding company.
Some people say that the businesses will find a way around the rules but then the tax authorities can change the rules as well.

 

When I was at school I was good at maths and my mother said I should be an accountant.
I asked her what accountants did.
She said: "Add things up".
I forgot about the idea until I found out for myself what accountants did.
