It's mad to think that it was only a couple of years ago that some fans were happy to take £15m off of Burnley for him. He is now an integral part of our future, could he be only the second Saints Captain to hold up some major silverware?....
Although a couple of seasons ago he was nowhere near hitting the standards that he has this season. He’s come on massively and even captaincy aside is integral to how we play. When was his deal due to expire? It says five year contract but presumably it’s an X amount of years added (with a nice pay rise) to his existing deal?
Well done James and well done the Saints for the offer...........Good start to the season. All we want then is for Ings to do the same and then build the team around those two................Away the lads..........
Think it’s fair to say that Hassenhuttl and JWP are a great match. He has performed very well under him and is obviously the sort of player Ralph loves. Just hope that when Hassenhuttl leaves the new manager is in his mould rather than a non pressing type who JWP looks average under (I can find the negative in everything )
I must admit I always felt [pre Ralph] that JWP was lower Prem. or Championship level at best and felt his game needed to step up a level, but this season Ralph has introduced some steel into his belly and he's a different player. Ask Wilfred Zaha if you don't believe me.
Having seemingly been overlooked for all the big jobs that have come up recently (United, Juve, Barca), maybe Poch will still be available when Ralph eventually leaves The pessimist in my has always been convinced that Spurs will eventually poach Ralph from us, maybe at the end of this season when it all turns sour under Jose. But recently, the Saints devil on my shoulder has begun to lure me into thinking that Ralph loves the club and this project too much and will be here for many seasons to come
I have to say, running further in one season than anyone in Europe’s top 5 leagues is an astonishing achievement, but I’m not the teeniest bit surprised. James Ward-Prowse, Mr Perpetual Motion.
