That's a little hard-on Smallbone. Feel he and Wood can both become important squad members :)

I love this forum. Simultaneously, we have subtle references to Darwin, and schoolboy humour about erections.

Keep up the good work guys. <ok>

On a serious note, a striker with a real aerial presence (but still fairly mobile) looks to be a priority and I think is a sensible thing to add to our mix of strikers.

Ralf has always had it in his teams and with the quality of some of our deliveries, it's at the very worst a nice plan b to have when we need it.

I don't see it as being the end for Obafemi either. He'd probably go out on loan (if he went to the right championship club it could do him wonders) with Long providing cover or we might sell Long and keep him as depth/competition - gives Ralf some nice options.

I doubt we sell Long this window seeing as he has just signed an extension. I can see a scenario where Obafemi is loaned out and we bring in another forward, then make a decision on the forwards next summer (Obafemi, Long, Adams in terms of letting one leave)

I'd like Obafemi to go out on loan as I think he thinks he's better than he actually is and he needs experience of a tough environment to make (or not) him a better player. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong and be an amazing player in the future, but I reserve judgement.

I agree and think Obafemi needs a loan - he's got a lot of promise but doesn't get enough minutes here - and he's not going to get in ahead of Ings or Adams next season, while Long has played a squad role for the majority of his time here.

In other news, Joe Hart is joining Tottenham.

If Southamton and Ralph decide that they want to bring this player in to the club, And possibly feel that Obafemi is perhaps too limited for that striker role, Then it seems well to bring someone in who can be a good option off the bench.

My feeling is that, Obafemi is perhaps to limited to what we want in striker at this moment in time, I don't like having him up too, But i think he could do a decent job somewhere on loan.

The guy just reports posts from usually decent sources. He does add the source at the end, as there was reported interest in this player a few weeks ago. It does add some validity to the Obafemi out rumour, nd the fact nunez season is now over.

He looks like an interesting player. Seems similar size and technicality to Scamacca, another player we’ve been linked with.

Not sure how reliable these links are though, and we’ve heard nothing from our end r.e Obafemi or these players so I’m presuming it’s nothing until then.

Hasn’t Ralph has raised concerns about Obafemi’s professionalism, in the past, so maybe he still has worries in that area?

In the true spirit of transfer window silliness, I was looking into the Hinteregger rumour and an apparent ITK on Eintracht’s transfermarkt forum has posted saying that the move to Southampton is imminent. A few fans on twitter have also noticed he’s put his house on the rental market. Could be absolute tosh and some fans in Germany are doubting the sources credibility but there’s nothing better than a vague rumour.

    https://www.transfermarkt.de/nebenk...forum/27/thread_id/89739/page/4#anchor_474788

Translated: Hinti is on the verge of a move to Southampton. There is agreement between the consensus and the English. The deal between Hinti and Southampton is imminent.

I’m amazed someone went to that effort, but they made him sound like he’s got a ****ing brain injury the way that got spliced together.

Dreadful editing, and dreadful that some fans may actually believe it's real.

I think people believe things like that...not because they are gullible...but because they can't understand anyone going to the trouble of faking it or even think it was worthwhile to do. The equivalent of a five year old thinking tripping someone up is clever and hilarious.
