Good Morning. It's Monday 17th August, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road. Leeds table new 35m for White Having been turned down more times than me, Leeds have tabled a new bid of 35m for Brighton defender Ben White! Leeds have had a series of offers turned turn in recent times for the 22yo, but Messra Orta and Radrizzani are not giving up. The new offer is made up of 30m cash, plus a further £5m in add-ons. But Brighton are set to reject it out of hand, valuing their star at more than £50m. Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester, Tottenham and both sides of Manchester have all been in touch with the seagulls regarding White's availability! Was this a clever move by Leeds? Multiple sources claim White is keen on reuniting with is former team mates at Elland Road, but what kind of advantage does that give Leeds over their competition; all of which are able to blow Leeds offer out of the water! If you knew you could tie the deal up at 40m, would you go for it? please log in to view this image Leeds looking to bolster midfield by signing Norwegian ace French outfit Toulouse are battling it out with Leeds for 24-year-old Fredrik Aursnes according to the Sun. The Molde defensive midfielder broke into the senior team at Hodd as a 16-year-old. He made over 100 appearances before moving on to Molde FK in 2016. The Norwegian was snapped up by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer during his spell in Norway. Aursnes has represented Norway at U18 and U21 level as well as over a century of caps and 14 goals at the Aker Stadium (Molde). Aursnes has two years left on his contract but is keen to test himself away from Norway. please log in to view this image Cabral now No1 target? Speculation over the weekend has been rife regarding Basel striker Arthur Cabral. Cabral, 22, was a star for Basel this past season, smashing 18 goals and six assists in 39 games for the Swiss side. The Brazilian was on loan from Palmeiras, but recently made his move permanent for around €4million (£3.6million). The Whites have lodged a £16.3m offer for the Brazilian over the weekend after Bielsa specifically asked for Cabral to be signed. Although the Swiss side would be making over 300% profit on their investment, they are holding off for 20m euros (£18.1million). Leeds current offer is around £13.5million up front and the rest in add-ons. please log in to view this image
Good morning. 50 million is ridiculous for White. If he's absolutely not for sale that's fine but slapping a price tag on that size is just greed. I fear we're just being used to drive the price up for a top six team. I hope we walk away and it all blows up in Brighton's face. I wouldn't wish anything bad on the lad but he could easily be found out to be not Premier League quality or her could get a lengthy injury and end up leaving for buttons. I feel like we might see some progress this week. I think we'll see Bielsa sign, the new shirts released and I'm hopeful we'll make our first proper signing.
Good morning everyone Can't believe this White saga is still going on, were just starting to look plain ridiculous or stupid, I wish we would put in as much effort in unveiling a new proven goal scorer, not a good first impression of our PL business for me.
PLEASE Brighton keep saying NO we can’t afford to blow our budget on one player. I’m disappointed in Bielsa over this one, he can change an entirely average team into championship winners but he can’t take one of the other defenders we’re linked with and convert them? I’m a bit shocked and hugely disappointed at how it’s looking like the Ben White saga is preventing us from making other first team signings. I said no the minute it went over £20k and although he is good he isn’t in the bracket of a £50m player
Exactly, every other team now will be saying turn down any approach from Leeds and wait until they come back with a double money offer, ridiculous
Morning all I’ll say it again fed up with hearing about Ben White We are allowing Brighton to raid our transfer pot at the expense of the rest of the team Whilst he is a good player he is not that good have here’d rumours of 40-50 million and even MU jumping on the band wagon All we are doing by keep going back with better offers is to continually stoke the pot To some extent I don’t blame Brighton they control the asset they must be laughing all the way to the bank just hope it blows up in their faces
Good Morning to Matt Doc and co from a dull Bardsey I think that its about time we told Brighton where to go and move on I think realistically we will spend about 40m this window Cabral 16m Koch 10m larouche from Liverpool 7m the young Reading mid fielder 2m Keeper 7m
Morning all. I feel for White. Brighton are potentially pricing him out of a move. If he doesn't move and then struggles to get in the 1st team or drops in form he could be potentially missing out on the big payday/ move in his career. As for how much we should spend on him. The Square Ball podcast recorded an interview with Kinnear and while it was not set as our transfer budget he certainly inferred that the club would be willing to spend 75-100 million if it was the right moves. With that in mind 35 million for White would be the absolute most I'd go. Get him for that and then spend upwards of 40 million of 2-3 others and the squad would be set.
Let’s play a stupid game for a moment We pay 50 million for Ben White + the wages on a 50 million player The first mistake he makes (and he will make them) the ER crowd will hang him out to dry The pressure on a young lad without any premier experience is massive this could destroy him entirely. Let him go to the likes of MU they are very good at Ruining careers
I’m not so sure I believe this talk of White and the offers we’ve made. We made a 18 and 22 million bids and both were confirmed by Phil Hay but the 30 million bid wasn’t correct as per Phil Hay and I’d say he is definitely the most reliable journo regarding Leeds. I’ll wait and see what happens and believe it when I see it. If it is true it’s too much, 30 I’d be okay with but I think we need to go elsewhere if we’re going over that. Be nice to see Bielsa and at least 1 first team signing this week.
Morning all. Like most (all) Leeds fans I would absolutely love to have Ben White permanently wearing the white shirt, but not at that price. But..... I suspect all this focus on White may well be a smoke screen so we can pick up some other uncut gems that Bielsa has identified. Let Man Utd, Liverpool, Tottenham etc keep trying to "beat us" to White's signature, I reckon we've already moved on.
30 million for an unproved championship defender is ludicrous. I do not believe that price one bit it's just journo made up krapp. As for the lad from Basle the swiss league on par with the jockos. Seriously rads needs to buy up and coming at a price under 10 million or prepare to let Orta loose with the funds and i shudder at that thought
Morning Mike, I think Meslier cost us 5m, but it looks increasingly likely that Casilla will leave. If I'm honest I really don't give a damn about the recism charge as there is not a chance in hell it would have stacked up in a court room. IMO you cant convict someone on probability. The reason I'd get rid of Cailla is to free up wages. I'd bring in a keeper like John Ruddy on a freebee. He's a seasoned professional who doesn't mind time on the bench.
Ben White looked good enough for England for me at least a squad place along with Phillips. Both Manchester clubs need CBs as was proved this weekend so hope Ben goes there and gets over a £100k per week. We should not be dipping into the same shops as the top 6 clubs..... yet! We should be smarter and pick up better players even International players because English players way over priced and clubs like BHA are greedy cnts. Hoping we get news on Robin Koch because he is a top top CB and full German International, but we also know as per Kinnear that the club have a group of alternatives at CB who are great players in the Bielsa mould and all Internationals. Bielsa is taking training so going nowhere and its nice to see our manager linked with every top job for a change. Barcelona should have asked Bielsa when they lost to Roma a couple of years ago, now it needs a complete rebuild.
Are you serious ben white is not worth 10 million he has had one season. Meanwhile harrison is back for his third loan season and was offered at 8 million. But of course skint rads has not bought him and the overrated winger who is a giant among dwarves is a Bielsa favourite. Don't hold your breath people and expect harrods signings at pound shop prices.
Trouble is any fee for casilla would go to paying him off due to his high wages so i expect him to stay.
I wouldn't expect a fee, but he'a a decent keeper. Problem is why would we keep him, when we've splashed out 5m on Meslier.
It's got to be agent or media hype because his price has gone up £10m since last week. Bielsa has earned them 90% of what they get for White. I stick by what I said before, he's worth £10-15m. If he's worth what they say then the rest of our defence must be worth a fortune too and Philips must be worth £100m. It's crazy talk when football has a tough season coming up.
