We could sign Joe Hart and Jack Butland for a combined £8m! That would've sounded like insanely good business a few years back. Now? Not so much. ****er looked like Max Headroom on BT last night.
Apparently someone on Talksport is claiming we’re trying to sign Marcel Sabitzer. He was excellent against us in the Champions League for Leipzig. Think he can play multiple positions too across the supporting three, good signing if the rumour’s true.
He's out of contract next summer so he's in that category of players it would make sense for us to look at if AM/RW are positions we're looking to address. Might lend credence to the idea that Lamela might be being offered about too as positionally, its a straight swap and they're both non-HG. Undecided on Joe Hart as 3rd choice but it's not a huge deal. The numbers make sense as he's an HG free agent who wouldn't command an outrageous wage. He's a bit of a gamble, yes, but it's probably a year or two early for Austin or Whiteman, particularly the latter.
We were linked to him a few months back too Definitely the sort of player we should be signing as he can play basically anywhere in the opposition half, has a few goals in him, and also guarantees we'll be signing an attacking player with a manbun and awful beard so there's no need to reheat the Gareth Bale rumours of the umpteenth time
Yeah it’s very possible we’ll sell Lamela if we get an offer. Sabitzer is also one of Leipzig’s vice captains so it’d be yet another player joining after Hojbjerg who’s ideally got that leader-type mentality. It’s not really someone I’ve thought of in terms of signing before but I’m fully on board with the idea of this one happening. As for Hart, I presume it is mainly to allow Whiteman and Austin to go out on loan. I have quite high hopes for the latter so I really want him getting a decent season somewhere to further his progression.
Yeah he seems more or less perfect signing with his versatility, talent and leadership qualities. As I said in the previous post he was excellent against us too. Had a really good season in general as it goes, 16 goals and 11 assists in 43 games.
...don't suppose they're looking for a right back? Because we've got an Ivorian who'll do wonders for them
Think it’s a pretty smart signing should it happen. Allows both Whiteman and Austin to head out on loan plus Hart is a HG player too. I just think it’d be silly of Hart himself to join, he’s still got the chance to be a first choice keeper somewhere.
Which part on NO do you not comprehend? I was at Wembley when he played for Burnley against us. He was a worse time waster than Ben Foster and twice as smug... So I repeat....just NO...NO...NO
Don't like the idea of Hart but maybe the intention is to sell Gazzaniga and free up a non HG space? In a position that is rarely used. Strategic thinking.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53803874 Former England and Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is set to join Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer. The 33-year-old left Burnley when his contract expired on 30 June. Hart, then England keeper, fell from favour after Pep Guardiola arrived at City in 2016, with loans to Torino and West Ham before a 2018 move to Burnley. But he lost his place to Tom Heaton midway through the first season of a two-year contract and then spent the 2019-20 on the bench behind Nick Pope. He is due to have a medical and will compete with Paulo Gazzaniga to be Hugo Lloris' deputy at Spurs.
