Is that the German connection or was it a hint at Wild Bill Storey Austria copy of redbull with a dash of lemon iirc
No we don't. We want owners who can take the club forward... Burnley have invested £50m, I'd be happy with their progress. Would you?
You’d be happy with Burnley to a degree then you’d wanna press in though. So we want rich owners with a vision to take the club on and keep growing it. Thw potential here is surely far bigger than Burnley.
I wouldn't normally post this early but I just woke up to a message from a 'friend' in Texas who used to text during the FPP takeover. It's been months since we were in touch so nice to see his name pop up. He's a businessman/soccer fanatic who 'supports' Arsenal as does the Sheikh I worked for, I introduced them. Anyway he was at an awards function last night, dunno what time it is there tbh, and bumped into people he knows who are also into football. He said it was openly discussed gossip so I'm taking a flier and repeating it. I can't ask as I think it's the middle of the night but can't wait to post this. It's slightly weird that my club is being discussed at a posh do in Texas tbh. The gist of it is this, no vague hints or initials of people involved. Fuhrman made an offer, which still sits there, that is way lower than Donald's ask. Absolutely nothing has changed other than Sartori has decided that he has little to gain from selling his interest and wants to be involved at some point in the future. That wish, apparently, has been well received by Fuhrman's people. That's basically it and, as a layman, I've no idea what it means. I thought Donald could insist on Sartori and Methven selling up but might be wrong. I'll wait until Grumpy Old Man, from RTG, is up and about so I can ask, he'll know. In some ways I'd prefer it if Sartori is involved and not just clinging onto his shares for devilment. And I've no idea whether that affects Donald's attitude to selling to them. In fact it raises more questions than answers imo. I'm just pleased there's still a chance of Fuhrman being involved and, tbh, part of that is to justify what I've been told by other people and what I've posted over what seems like years. It's also nice to be remembered by a wealthy Texan, never thought that would happen when I was growing up in Durham. When I look at my contacts list it always makes me laugh. I wouldn't dare contact some of them but I keep them on my phone just for fun. Anyway, i'm half asleep and rambling ... I'll try to get back off if I can.
Thanks for the positive update, Smug. I genuinely don’t mind who gets it now as long as they have the bests interests of the club at heart, run it professionally and are prepared to invest in both staffing and infrastructure. Hopefully this salary cap will get overturned. That’s our biggest obstacle to progression at this stage, even more so than Donald bizarrely.
Thanks for the update. I wonder if it would be viable for RAWA to purchase Charlie's 6%, Sartori keeps his 20% Then Fuhrman just needs to settle on a price with Donald for the remaining 74%. Probably not what all parties would want, but would be good for the fans to have a voice at that level.
If for example the club was to be valued at £36mil, do you think it would be realistic for RAWA to raise funds to buy 6%? In my opinion I can’t ever see fans taking a stake in the club.
I don't see why not. If RAWA made it clear to fans that's what they would do via the donate button on their site. 6% of the valuation is just under 2.2 million. If 30,000 fans put in £100 each, that would be 3 million. Some may put less, some may put more, but as an average, £100 to have a voice at that level would be worth it in my opinion.
I’m not convinced that they’d have that many people willing and able to chip in. It’ll be interesting to see how many people pay to sign up when they adopt a more formal structure.
