I wouldn’t be so sure, Trump has slowed dramatically in the last couple of years, when he’s not scripted he’s all over the place these days. If you look at footage of him from 2015 and compare it to now, the decline is marked.

That said Bidens age might go against him with some, and any doubts about his fitness for office will be hugely exacerbated if he stumbles in the debates.

True, the office batters their brains. But even Trump at his worst can probably muster up a performance against Joe, I can't listen to him for more than a few minutes its cringe.

I dislike both and would never vote for either tbh.

I don’t really know much about Biden tbh. I can’t say I’ve followed him. He’s just not Trump, so he’ll do.

You don’t last as long in politics if you don’t have a bit about you and the fact that Biden has held senior roles says he’s up to the job.
Biden genuinely has a stutter so combined with his age, he does sometimes seem a little slow.
However, Trump is a one trick pony and will try to use the same playbook as last time. Already his attacks on Harris echo his attacks on Obama in respect to the birthing issue etc. plus he’s intimidated by powerful women In general.
I’m not predicting a landslide for Biden, but expect him to win.

I might be overly critical if he is elected he will be a better president that is for sure. No doubts about it for me, Trump has been a ****ing disaster. Not completely without the odd "win", but mostly a **** up.

tbf remembering back when Obama was in charge and i actually followed US politics I do remember saying that Biden was a fantastic VP to Obama.

Lets see what happens, if he wins Biden will be alright, nothing memorable probably but a solid pres.

You put me in mind of my dad a bit. He wouldn’t apply for a disabled badge for his car because he didn’t think two hip replacements and 8 decades amounted to disability, even though in the eyes of the DVLA it most definitely did.

Don’t sell yourself short, and don’t believe the bullshit messages about how one of the world’s richest economies can’t afford to look after it’s citizens; the welfare state is not a charity, we all pay in. Don’t ever be embarrassed to take out some of what you’ve paid in.

My Grandad is like this, every year he says "I'll be going back up mountains this time next year, you watch." It's honestly sad because he still views himself as a young buck, but some oldies out there just can't accept the age catching up, or worse yet, the fact they might start needing some help now!

I stupidly thought that the recording of Trump admitting gropping women and saying
"you can grab them by the pussy you can do anything"
would make him lose the last election.

I ain't a prude but that's a **** attitude. If a politician here was recorded saying that his career would probably die on the spot.

Seems to me that if Trump could win after that then he can win this time.

I claim what i should but i aint using semantics to claim what i'm not entitled to .
I refuse to take advantage of what is supplied to help disabled people unless i fulfill not just the letter but the spirit of the legislation as it is a finite pot and i know of people whose only washing facility has been their kitchen sink for 9 months whilst waiting for the council to fit an accessible bathroom under the Disabled facilities grant system.

Should point out for my £106 pre payment cert i get approx £5k p.a. of stuff in return .

Don’t get me wrong, there is something admirable in that attitude.

Sometimes though, it amounts to people letting pride rob them of the help they need.

Usually the 1 v 1 presidential debates matter a great deal, if only at the very least to galvanise support. But in this instance I don't see Trump putting in enough of a performance to undo the collosal fck he has been and that is felt by middle american swing voters who chose him last time round.

It would have to be an exceptionally concerning display by Biden for the debates to make any difference. Basically he'd have to forget his own name, where he was and what was going on.

Even now, Trump still don't get it. Yesterday the media were applauding him for the Israel peace accord. Yet your average punter like myself, couldn't give a shhite about it, and I'd imagine that is even less so for an American, where they'd even struggle to point the state of Israel out on a map.

When it comes to home politics, people will vote for what affects their country directly, unless you include how many times America fook up in a war or are a creating gods hand in atrocity.

The accord is a joke anyway. The idea it has any bearing on peace in the middle east is laughable when it doesn't include the palestinians. It's a business deal nothing more. Most Americans know fck all about what's going on outside their own State let alone the details of a 70 year old apatheid rule over a whole group of ppl half way round the world. Like you say for american voters it's all about the difference it makes to them at home. Mainly the dollar in their pocket and domestic current affairs e.g. covid 19, blm, unemployment, healthcare, schools.

I don't even think the so-called threat of China matters to most voters because it's not perceived as an existential threat. In that sense you have to hand it to Trump. His desire to avoid conflict around the world has probably ended up preventing him from using the "enemy from outside" rhetoric. He's bigged himself up as the man who tamed North Korea (which is bollox but that's his position) and he's never painted anyone as a significant military or terrorism threat (not even Iran). That's the kind of fearmongering americans will respond to when you say, 'I can keep you safe from....' It's just not the same as saying 'Hey Huawei are trying to infiltrate us through 5G everyone!' Hardly going to scare ppl enough to think hey we better stick with this guy. What does that leave? The Mexicans? Wasn't he supposed to have built a wall by now. Not sure he can use them either. He's running out of hooks he had aplenty 4 years ago.

I don't write him off, but I think the fact he has less to shout about means he'll become more and more desperate and imo more bolder with his claims. What worries me is that the majority might just believe him... again!

I feel a Lincoln quote coming on -

He’ll try everything in his power to steal the vote. Actually the Republicans have a history of making it difficult for certain communities (black inner city communities, university students who tend to be more liberal/Democrat), etc, to vote.

In Southern States in the 50s and 60s, being black and going to a polling station meant taking your life in your hands. This led to a movement known as “stroll to the polls”, where black voters would gather at churches then march together to polling stations, often singing hymns.

So Trump’s attempt to inhibit the franchise is nothing new. Will it work? Maybe, but it will meet with organised resistance, because overcoming obstacles in order to vote is nothing new to some groups either.
