The goalposts have changed since the takeover was initiated. Everyone has to accept that. The corruption aside (clearly that’s a massive problem in itself) the reality is that the clubs value is probably different than it was 5 months ago. We have lost Matty Longstaff who give months ago would have had a significant value on the books. He’s now gone. That impacts on value. PIF could come back to Ashley realistically and say that the circumstances have affected the value by negative 50m. And for a deal to go through it needs to be reflected. Ashley says yes or no it’s his call. Just business. Then we have the issue around the PL.
It wasn't the only stated reason. "Ultimately, during the unforeseeably prolonged process, the commercial agreement between the Investment Group and the club's owners expired and our investment thesis could not be sustained, particularly with no clarity as to the circumstances under which the next season will start and the new norms that will arise for matches, training and other activities."
If Ashley has gotten involved and there are two issues for PIF: 1- economic 2- time delay by PL I can honestly see Ashley willing to drop his ask. He may drop the value but ask for some advertising or something to save face but he’s apparently quite desperate to get out now.
Utter garbage. It's Liam bloody Kennedy claiming "sources close to the bid" are confident. What, the same sources who've been confident of the deal going through for the past 4 months? Won't hold my breath here.
In all seriousness he took a tonne of abuse a few days before it broke down saying his sources were no longer so confident.
