So much crap flying around the transfer rumour pages. Agents will be peddling their players through the press, with rumours and counter rumours aplenty.

It’s just time to sit back and watch it all unfold.

There's no smoke without fire, so I do think our interest in Thiago is genuine. He's not a big priority for us but imagine the buzz he would bring. Not to mention his undoubted quality.

I thought this too. But then I saw Romano and falk reporting it so for me that's enough to know there has at least been contact.

Its got Werner written all over it:bandit:

On Werner, we didn't put an offer in for him. If you wanted to put some spin on the story like some fans like to do, you could say that Werner was desperate to come to Liverpool and Klopp turned him down.

Another plus is its more genuine competion in the middle, if I'm say anyone of ox naby gini Milner I'm upping the level again to make sure I keep my place from this "nooby" with a big name. Add to that young Jones who's just coming into the side now, it's only gonna be good for him and the team if they have the correct attitude and up the level. If not and they don't fancy the weekly fight for a spot then are they really worth having around in the long run anyway?

Fergie was a master of freshening up his title winning teams with new players of quality, and for me it's a very important part of maintaining the levels amongst the current squad.

our current crop are dubbed mentality monsters so I'm confident that if we can add Thiago it will be a very good move all round.

Exactly. If we were willing to spend the £££, then he would have been ours. It's that simple.

But we weren't so he had to pursue other opportunities which he did.

Agree with this statement. It's natural for motivation levels to decrease slightly after winning trophies. So we need to ensure these levels, the hunger, desire is still at a high level.

Thiago is one of the best (if not the best) central midfielders in the world. He is world class. Incredible passing, dribbling, creativity but he's also brilliant defensively.

The thing with werner is there was the release clause sat there for months and months when no one but us were linked. Now if we wanted him surely just meet the release clause in Jan before this whole covid kicks off.

Did the fact we were only ones interested mean we wanted to try get lower fee? Maybe.. but it just went on so long that you just thought something didn’t quite feel right

I’d love Thiago tbh. You don’t play for Barca and Bayern and be talked about that highly be pep if you’re not a good player.

yeah he’s 29 but the way he plays he’s probably just in his prime now. He’s not an explosive player. Look at players like xavi, iniesta, david silva, Kroos, modric, alonso, all sinilar style players who dictate tempo going well into 30s and being huge players for their teams.

May have to chance style slightly when playing as he’s not as industrious as our normal workmanlike midfield which normally allows full backs to bomb on. But against those teams where we struggle to break down, would be great option.

I agree. After he went to Chelsea there was talk that when we were initially interested he was trying to negotiate the salary and agent fee up and up. We will always walk away at that point. Klopp values character as much as playing ability.

I think werner shat the bed to be honest, either his agent or him got a bit excited and started to ask for more and more, seems a similar situation to fekir was it a few years ago.
Thaigo doesn't seem to fit with our buying policy but he's what we've been crying out for, someone in the middle if the park who can control a game without us having to run like **** to do it.

You obviously don’t watch your own team. The goal being lauded as the Utd goal of the season is a quick break from defence, bypassing the midfield, straight up to the fast lads. You really are a **** WUM!

I'm not disagreeing as such, but every Utd manager since him has tried the same method without much success.
Clearly the old bastard had more to him than just a chequebook.
I really don't care if we never bring in a big name, as long as Klopp can make a winning team from what he has. Too many big rep players have failed dismally when they move, so I can't get excited at any name until I see how he actually pans out.

Anybody think the lack of contract for Gini is an indication another midfielder is coming to the club....Thiago... <whistle>

We will start next season with either Wijnaldum or Thiago, not both
