It’s not that simple in terms of electing though, you can only vote for who is up for the vote, and with Sunderland being a Labour stronghold it’s not like the populace can go out and choose someone because they have a vision or a dream for the city. They can only choose whoever the parties put in front of them. The now defunct ‘Tyne Wear development corp’ had a massive hand in stunting the city for a lot of years as I recall.
I love the North East. Thought about buying in Portugal a few years ago. As much as I like it there, I love coming home. The Northumbrian coast has some great places.
Some of my extended family moved to the lakes quite a while back. Another lovely part of the country but if I ever moved back to the UK I’d still choose the NE.
I love the lakes, absolutely stunning. Get over couple times a year usually stay at Low Wood Bay it’s beautiful.
When I was free (i.e. single) there were a few of us who would go to Keswick once a year, pitch a tent in the campsite near the centre of town and generally get stocious every night. During the day either go fishing or walk up one them big hills they have there.
In the early seventies around April/May (I think), along with a few mates I used to hitch over to Keswick for the Folk music week, just about every bar had live music on all day. Great memories
I think they have it on the big field opposite the theatre by the lake now also a class one in Dent as well
No such thing son, no such thing. Not so much that as I’m always happy to pay extra for special, and that place is off the scale mind blowing. It’s absolutely stunning.
We've dined in the Blue Smoke, which only opened last year, I think, and we were very impressed The best place that we've dined at (last year) when we've stayed at Lowood Bay (we've stayed there a few times, and it was nearly our youngest daughter's wedding venue, which eventually was The Inn on the Lake) is right next door . . . . The Samling, where the 7 or 8 course taster menu (fine dining) was absolutely superb We've dined more often at Porto's in Bowness, though, which we'd recommend
Aye been to Porto’s really enjoy it if you fancy a short drive try The Masons Arms ( Strawberry Bank ) cracking views from the beer garden also The Wheatsheaf Brigsteer or The Black Labrador Underbarrow all nice food.
