2.55 Ascot Mont Agel 12/1
7.00 Dundalk Orafinitis 16/1
8.00 Dundalk Prescient FC 12/1

I didn't notice 2.20 Ascot Cape Classic 6/1 is running. Was heavily backed when finishing a fast finishing 4th over 6f behind Murura who has since come out and franked the form. The step up to 7f should definitely suit and 6/1 looks a very nice price.

And I'm having a small bet on 3.30 Ascot Ivan Vasilevich 33/1

Looks vastly overpriced to me when considering only 2lb higher than scoring at Ascot in July over 10f. Ivan Vasilevich made all that day after kicking for home from the final bend under todays jockey Martin Dwyer to gamely hold off the pursuit of the well backed Grumeti. Although he has disappointed the last twice, I think there are excuses for both. The ground was possibly too soft at Chester and the race at Nottingham was very stop start and I am willing to at least give him another chance at the price. Very interestingly Martin Dwyer takes the ride for the 3rd time on this colt, having won on him the two previous occasions he has ridden him and its going to be only his 4th ever start for trainer Jane Chappelle Hyam. Ivan Vasilevich is stepped up to 12f for the first time ever and it will be interesting to see if he improves for the extra stamina test. Although he disappointed in a Class 2 event LTO, he has won a Class 3 event and with Martin Dwyer booked and at huge odds I am willing to take a chance on him in first time cheekpieces in what is the trainers only runner of the day

Ardent good question, the answer for me is two fold -

My selection won a competitive 15 runner handicap off a mark of 100 last time whilst HC won a Conditions race beating a regressive looking sort in fine style. I like the competitive nature of the handicap and I was impressed with what he showed then. I thought HC possibly was a little flattered because I thought the race was run to suit him at Salisbury (not taking anything away from him, he was impressive).

Secondly I like Ascot form and my selection has it in the book.

I also don't think it will turn into a stamina test, which will suit the more prominent style of my selection.

That said I could make a case out for HC and also the Gosden runner too if I wanted to.
 
Morning, all. Cor blimey it’s bally hot today. 30 September and it’s hotter than a mid-summer's day. I've never subscribed to the 'global warming' notion but something rum is occurring that’s for sure. And my mole at the Met (Office not roplitan Police) advises that tomorrow will be the warmest October day for several generations! Anyway, enough of all that as today I really, really like one:

Laudatory (3.15 Fontwell Park) – old boy Charlie Morlock has recently returned to Seven Barrows and assumed the rank of assistant trainer to Mr Henderson following Tom Symonds departure to launch his own establishment. As well as bringing his good self Mr Morlock has also brought this Royal Applause gelding with him. Laudatory was a useful performer on the old level winning twice and being rated as highly as 85 at one point. Has also proved himself capable over timber with 1 win and a few placings to boot from half a dozen starts. A rating of 110 looks more than fair for his debut for the forum’s favourite trainer who you can guarantee will have eked out considerable improvement since coming under his tutorage. This contest is actually a very good one, in my opinion, but I expect Laudatory to gain the old plaudits this afternoon.

Has anyone seen the money on offer in those 2 sales races at old Newmarket tomorrow – they have a combined pot of £800,000! And a lot of the runners are quite frankly moderate (one is rated as low as 40 and has finished last in 3 out of 4 of her races!). They are worth more money than the 2 Guineas’ run at the same venue.

I quite like Solar Sky in that race. He ran his career best at the course when just held in the Queen's Vase at the Royal Meeting and i don't think the 2f drop in trip will be a problem here. His race at Newmarket last time can be forgotten because it was reported to have come too soon. And in any case finishing behind Masked Marvel is no disgrace considering what that one has gone on to achieve. He has since been given a nice break and i fancy him to run a big race in this.

We'll have nearly tipped the whole lot by the off!
 
Hello lads.

Better offerings today thankfully.

I'm going have a few quid on Zanughan in the G3 at Dundalk,the 9.00.

Debuted in a decent maiden and finished strongly to take third.Won his maiden next time up before disappointing in a G2 Derby trial.After a Summer break,he returned to win a 12f Listed event at Galway by a cosy 2l.

The trip tonight is a slight concern and why he isn't nap material.Zanughan is bred to appreciate farther and runs like 12f is his optimal trip.Hopefully Freedom and Dubawi Star can set a decent gallop and JM can produce him for a late run.

He is the least exposed runner in the field and will definately improve on his
last run.The 100/30 currently available is fair value.

It does seem very strange SirBarney. I think we have had this before, but isn't the huge prize money funded by the large number of entries or some such?
 
its one for PN, but isn't it to entice people to buy at the said sales in the hope of getting the winner of this big prize?

No selections from me today, not even looked as on the 'lash' again!
