RIP Walter Lure of the Heartbreakers, I saw the heartbreakers at St Albans civic in 77 , the police outside out numbered the crowd inside , about 20 hardcore punks and the rest were curious music fans , can't remember which one of the band pulled a flick knife on a group of fans who were spitting at them . At the end when the crowd came out there were spot lights , police with dogs , local press and the local Herbert's from St Albans , one of the press got his camera snatched and that was the signal for it to kick off , fighting in the pond outside the civic ,I got a black eye and cut head from a local skinhead Ahhh the good old days Edit : just read that Walter was the last surviving original member of Jonny Thunder and the Heartbreakers , that must have been a tough paper round for this band
BBC 4 are showing a programme next week called Soul America, not sure if it's been on before but it looks worth a watch for soul fans
