Ok, this might get me slaughtered, bit the biggest surprise for me has been split between Derry (who's playing like he's 20 years younger) and Gabbidon, who's playing like... Well, a defender, aside from a couple of very dubious clearances!
No, I'd say you're spot on, but only in our outside looking in view. Gabbidon is an international defender and previously had a good partnership with Ferdinand at West Ham so it's no surprise they've gelled quickly and feed off each other's confidence. Derry is just...Derry, does exactly what it says on the tin!...
I think Gabbidon has been excellent. Everyone unfairly slated him after the Bolton game when he was our best defender and has played well since including at full-back at Wigan.
How about young Adel. He has been a totally different player this season. He has been passing (very well too), and not trying to beat every opposition team on his own.
Derry for me, just continues to surprise me, really is becoming one of our all time best signings. Gabbidon is a bit too prone to passing the ball to someone who isn't in the same colour shirt as himself!
I knew Gabbidon would be good, as my cousin's hubby is a West Ham season ticket holder and he told me he was a good defender. So I suppose the biggest surprise for me is how good a player Traore is.
Derry for me as well. Loved him last season but didnt think he could make the step up. So pleased i was proved VERY wrong
Have been impressed with how Derry has managed the step up to PL - thought his legs would tire quickly, must be on the skittles with all that energy he seems to have!
It's Derry for me,. I actually feared for the lad, what with Gorrks, Orr, and subsequently Hill. He has been a, wonderful step-up-to-the-plate-Sir.... Revelation.
Dyer, surprised he lasted the whole 4 minutes. Nah, Derry of course he looks at home and one day one of those headers will go in! I really hope he scores in a home game and I am there - LR will explode!
If we're talking about those no longer with us, it's got to be Leon"I'll show ya!"Clarke for his performances in the tunnel at Swindon and the incredible 5 goals in 3 games for Chesterfield. The stick and the carrot?
